If you dedicate a lot of time to improve your skill, have a good bankroll management and discipline in order to 1) study regularly and do all the boring job like reviewing and analysing hands of your own or your opposition 2) make right choices while playing, you can't afford goofy hands if you wanna go professional and 3) I think the most important and maybe the hardest part - follow bankroll management that you have set for yourself no matter how it will seem boring for you at times or how you may feel that you are able and deserve to play higher.

So yeah, discipline and studying and you can make it. But as you will have to treat poker as a job, I don't think it will be that fun as you may think because I highly doubt you treated poker seriously for these five years.

Anyways, good luck :)

Poker income will always fluctuate and there are always chances of losses, dont expect a fixed income every month, its impossible.

Yes it is possible well, you need a lot of practice. about a year it is necessary to play at least and analyze the errors . and of course you have to learn all the nuances of poker

Always wondered if I spend half a year of time on poker, will I have a chance to earn my living from 1000 $ a month ?? I've been playing for five years as an amateur, nothing works out (

also you have to make a good management of your bankroll, and above all have a good bank so you can play at medium limits.
With those points I think you can earn an income of 1k per month.

I think it's possible - if you make every effort - for further (excellent results) - Everything is in your hands - if you reasonably do the right things - you will come to the result you sought

First of all you should be lucky!
Second - attentive
Third - your math skills
Fourth - your knowledge in these things
from all together factors can come one good player!)

If you asking about possibility of living for money from poker, for sure this is real. I,m not sure, is it real for you, but as you can see lots of people play poker only and they have enough money for all, that they want.
You need to improve your game, if you will be good enough, of course, you can win.

You need to invest time and have discipline. Invest time in learning first and then in playing. You need to decide if you want to play cash games or tournaments and prepare yourself and learn as much as you can about the game. And with good bankroll management its possible.

The reason i started play poker is the person i meet 2 years ago - all this man's income come from poker, he didn't do any other job more than 10 years and he id doing really good money and traveling the word. It was my inspiration. I play poker about one year now, not very regular, but can see lot of progress and hope to make really money soon. wish all you the best in this matter. One Love,

I think that in order to have a profitable level in poker, we have a good base that allows us certain losses in case we do not do well in a session so at least we will be able to equate ... otherwise, without being stable, it would be a bit complicated.

Things like volatility and risk of ruin are driven by a players ability, so the better you are the smoother your path should be.

In poker or any card game there's nothing like stable income lol...some days the cards play and some it doesn't...you just need to know when the time comes and take a break aka a tilt breaker!

Where there's a will there is a way.. if you play correct and have the determination you can earn 1k per month easily or even more than that

The problem most people seem to have when trying to transition from playing poker for fun to playing for an income is the very fact that the game they love has become work/a grind. And, like any other "job", you have to be mentally strong to be able to push through the bouts of boredom and monotony.

Ome also has to be realistic about one's chances at being very successful at poker over a long period of time.

It can be done, obviously, but expect it to be very difficult.

You can make money in poker if you spend a lot of time and energy on it. But is not it better to spend this time and energy on the acquisition of a good profession, and earn as much. This is my personal opinion, I do not impose it on anyone.

With a significant investment of time and effort you can become a winning player and even make a lot of money.

But a STABLE income? Oh, hell no, son.

There will always be fluctuations in your income. How much depends on your win rate and standard deviation.

variance in online poker

I think it is not possible to make long-term profit especially with online poker. If you're a good player, you might get a win rate of 5 big blinds for 100 hands. A low win rate has a dramatic effect on variance. It is just not enough to play 2 hours a day at 2 tables. So you will lose against the variance. You have to play 20 tables for 8 hours a day (and that against bad players too) to make the variance disappear.

It would be a lot easier to make an income in Live poker because of the chances of more recreational players and not so much rake. With online I pay a lot of rake playing extra hands because its fast and there are a lot of players who have found their pattern online and do it all day for a small profit repetitively. It makes some of them a living but it takes work.

NO....the ALGO's are geared to take your money ONLINE

The best way is to play with FRIENDS and TAKE their money (but you have to be very sharp).

Online is NOT YOUR FRIEND.

TOURNEY's and the Casino ARE YOUR FRIEND.

Try that, check your sample data and you'll see ONLINE is TERRIBLE.

Thank you for listening..... :)
