I think the hardest part about the smallest of stakes is that it's freakin' boring...

Grind for hours to go up a couple BI wohooo $8...

on top of it the optimal playing style at those stakes is tight premium hands no bluffing poker...

It's so simplistic and uncreative it is boring... At least to me..

Agreed, its boring as hell.

Im already bored of micro stakes cash games after 9 months lol.

Playing hyper HUSNGs now and loving them, I believe its best to stick to 1 type/ area of poker, so will definitely stick with these for the foreseeable future. I seriously cannot see myself ever going back to low limit cash.

Hey pokerzzz,
I wanna discuss about poker, in terms of stakes. After years playing, I figure out that small stakes cash game is not worth to be played nowadays. It's just waste ur time, energy, and at the end you end up with small profit, or the worst case, loss. I feel the gap between the playing style of small stakes table and middle/high one. At higher stakes, seems like more simple to play, everyone (mostly) play tight, so lower chance to limped in with 72o, 68o, or 35o. But in lower stakes, the hand range can be very huge. Although post flop play is more difficult in higher stakes, but still, because poker also depends on luck, which is unbeatable creature in gambling, anything can happen. In my opinion, playing higher stakes sometimes is easier.

if you find a "wallet" any level is easier !!

interesting subject and i can see everybody's point. for me grinding for a length of time in the micro ring games doesn't seem profitable. so if i can double or triple buy in i get off the table. or do hit and runs this seems to be a good way to profit on the micros at least for me. its like any game i play i go in with goals and as soon as i hit the goal i get off the table whether its with a profit or a loss . i feel this is the only way to beat the micros.

the rake is high, but it still provides a great learning environment, can be fun, and you can multitable lots of tables

I most certainly agree with what you have said.
In my situation i have no choice but playing small/micro stakes.I joined ACR and they gave me $5.00 to get started.I worked and played very hard and built my way up to near $30.00 in my bankroll.Point is if you din't have the funds to move on up to higher stakes you have to play low/micro stakes.Hopefully i will be moving up in the stakes i play soon.

If you can't beat the micros, you won't beat the mid-stake games.

The micros are so easy to beat because players don't understand the game. By sayings what you have said, you have just told us that you do not understand the game.

One of the most important parts of poker is accepting how good you are as a player. I know there are some limits I can't beat. You apparently think that you will get 'respect' at higher levels. No, you'll get beaten up.

Can't wait to see the results of this. Please post how much you lose.

I agree but no1 can start high stakes with real money just like that. Some practice in micro is best way to start w/e how long u play there. One month or 6 months. All that matters is to feel ready to move on.

Worthless for income seeking "pros" maybe, but don't forget the casual players.
