Pure Evil Chat at Full Tilt

First up, the person saying these things isnt some kind of wizard, so its not a spell and by saying these words, he dosent set off a chain of events which leads to his prophecy becoming true.

So why does he say it?

He says these things to cause an emotional response in you.

If you read these words and react in the manner polite society expects you to, then he causes the exact emotional response he set out to cause and therefore accomplishes his goal.

He wants you to feel bad, and you do.

Switch chat off.. the problem goes away.

These points are 100% true.

My point is that its not OK to actually say these words as was stated by he poster I quoted, I maybe a bit dense but in no way would I think that someone wishing me to die of AIDS will make it so. And yeah somethings will cause an emotional response and thats why I agree playing with chat off is the way you should play most of your poker.

Anyway Im prob just crapping the thread up now so I will refrain from posting here from now on.

I just discovered something on Fulltilt this week (must've been created in a more recent update?... I've never seen it before).
I was watching one of the better tourneys online (pretty sure it was the $200Kguar. $200rebuy.... but might have been the $30K-6max, $1Kmonday, or one of the other good ones where you find all the high buyin regs. (& some of the BEST play by far). Anyways, there was just a ton of observer chat goin' on & one of the players on the table made a comment about it & another responded, "Really?... then they must be part of the thousand or so who I've deleted their chat...cuz I'm seein' very little of it. You should try it"
Then I discovered that you can actually 'right click' on 'observers', have their 'notes' pop up for ya, & then check off their chat. Never knew you could do this before (pretty sure you couldn't). You can even mute chat of observers while you are an observer. Cool!
So.... I started muting a bunch of them. Funny too was that on some of them I actually had notes on them already & had played on same tables with them before. Reading over my notes from past play, it became even more apparent why they needed to be muted, lol.

I agree with dj11, there's something wrong with people who get offended this easily. If you think that's evil, you don't know what evil is. There is far worse than that, and far worse said daily on FTP. But my guess is you're not the kind of guy to sit around and tell dead baby jokes.

Like a lot of others have already said, turn off your chat. But if you feel you need your chat for some stupid reason, mute the player. Tattling on them does nothing. Sure, Full Tilt will suspend their chat for a whole day, and on the second and third offense maybe a whole month. Big deal, like others have pointed out, you're probably helping them out. People like that, play better chat banned anyways.

I like what one dude said about asking other players from other countries what they had for dinner. That's awesome. I hope you get some good conversations from that. Some of the best conversations I've had were playing poker, but not online.

OP, How do you survive the real world? Do you walk around with ear plugs in, and 911 on speed dial? Grow up, man up, and realize the world isn't perfect. You only empowered that person, when you let them get under your skin.

People in this forum have a right to start this kind of thread if they want. You dont have to agree or not, which you obviously dont, but you dont have to be a dick either, which you obviously are.

Do this fine forum a favor, and stay away or contribute, but take your childish taunting somewhere else. I for one hope you never come back.

In a thread about offensive statements you go and say something like this??? Are you completely insensitive? Regardless of whether we should let chat like this affect us when we're playing (the gist of your post), then repeating the same kind of statements in some kind of attempt to make yourself look funny is just completely inappropriate. Like Fletchdad said - grow up and until you do, please don't contribute to this forum any more.

I hope the moderators of this forum look at your statement and decide to action against you. Now wouldn't that be a twist?
