Why do movies and TV series show a distorted reality of poker?
I think there are exceptions, obviously, but in general, movies and television tend to show hands that are rarely seen at poker tables. What do you think?
Do you like to watch poker movies? To add, do you recommend any?

Since the average movie watcher who doesn't really know how to play poker, he wouldn't understand or enjoy it if someone with 7.2o finally pulled off a huge bluff against, say, an AA. In a poker cinema, you cannot show a poker table and the table image built up for hours.
So it is easiest to show if the "four of a kind" always beats a "full house" or a "royal flush" beats "four of a kind" .
Basic movies are "Rounders" or "Lucky You", and one of my favorites is "Maverick" (Mel Gibson 1994) ...

Here is a list of movies that I liked.
Maverick
The Cincinnati Kid
Rounders
Shade
Lucky You
Molly's Game
Of course, artistic, entertaining films have their own plot, their own story, and therefore a dramatic effect is necessary, and therefore the poker game in such films will and should differ from live tournaments :)

I think the most distorted unrealistic hand of poker can be seen in Casino Royale but it's still a fun movie(y)

I believe that films are primarily a work of art and not a documentary, so poker is shown to fit the overall picture of the film and the plot. As for a cool movie, I enjoy Netflix's Pokerface

I can't find the Rounders. I've already seen two episodes of the poker face series, it's interesting, although I haven't seen poker there yet...

I think this happens to give the film more drama. I recommend "Lucky you" and "Runner Runner"

There are many poker movies, but a series wouldn't be bad on Netflix.
Not like 'Poker After Dark', but a series that would have a frame that would curve nicely from episode to episode. It should not only be about poker, but also about personal life and stories.
I don't know how, but this could make a good script, I'd like it.
