I think bonuses are not as great as they once was but freerolls like CC are keeping the buzz alive. Also everyone had money when covid was about but now that people are spending money again and petrol is stupid expensive people don't have the funds for poker as much which is why the hype is down

The competition in poker has increased, but it is still possible to make money with poker.
The popularity of poker, I think, as before, is great

Yes, I think the "hype" is fading. I've played Poker for 40 years, about 10 years ago people start to ask me about it and ask me to teach them. When I said I played poker people would be interested and say they wanted to learn.
That no longer happens, people just "Oh that's nice" or "How much does that cost?".

I also feel the Hype is fading, only because with what is going on in the World today, I don't feel like playing Poker! I spend a lot of time following events and just don't have time to spend playing a game while people are being killed.
It is a sad state of affairs but that is how it is, maybe one day I will play more but for now it just doesn't feel right.

When the fun Stops, STOP!
(I have)

I agree, people are just scared, the situation is getting worse every day and everything can end up with just a global catastrophe.

The first time I meet a man who has been playing poker for 40 years, my respect to you! Probably very interesting to watch the development of poker.

I wish poker would attract more people. But there's not as much excitement now as there was ten years ago.

Definitely fading. Last time I went to Mesquite there was only 1 casino that offered poker. The amount of players In the wsop main event is way down compared to the 12 million Jamie Gold won in 2006. Not as much television coverage either.

I'm also from brazil and I think they invested a lot in poker publicity a few years ago (with Neymar as PS player for example), but now there's a decent amount of online players already. I also noticed that now they are focusing on the publicity of sports bets sites, they are everywhere since commercials and team shirts.

In my mind, poker has long gone from the foreground. Casino owners do not benefit from poker.

Poker has never been very popular in our country, but lately I see that the number of fellow countrymen is increasing, I think there will always be people who want to earn money hoping for their luck and poker will never die.:)

If more U.s. states can legalize online poker there could be small resurgence, but as it is the best sites are not authorized in the states. That said, I think that the memories of online poker scandals of the past will affect how many will come/come back.

Yes I think the hype of poker is fading away in America right now due to inflation and the reopening of the economy due to covid. Plus the new gambling hype train as we speak is sports betting is taking over the nation by storm.

The thrill and the chance to make money by just a push of a button and the ability to multitask while a specific sports game is on while you're doing something else is better than sitting at a table or playing online waiting and hoping you can finesse or bluff somebody just to make some money from poker.

What I do believe in order for poker to get hype all over again is if online poker sites follows suit and legalize in states that have live sports betting. Sites like WSOP, pokerstars, party poker, unibet, GG poker, 888, etc. Can restart the hype train of poker.

Well, aren't you aware of what's going on in the world ?! that there is a thing called a pandemic with a virus :), and that there would be a war with the Russians; have our priorities changed, let's say let's survive:) then let's play some poker , don't you say :)

Yes I also think the hype of poker is fading away due to the long time it has taken for live Casinos to reopen. I believe only a select few make any real money playing poker online as it has become too difficult to be a long time winner and you need a large bankroll or someone else staking you. The online poker variance is too ridiculous to survive and be a longtime winner.

Hi Guys, I'm not sure if it's just me or if it's really happening but I feel that the Poker hype, specially in Brazil is much less than it was an year or 2 ago.

I see that there's much less propaganda, publicity and specially, PS, 888, Party Poker promotion and freeroll and bonuses have drastically dropped down.

What do you guys think?

ps. Hoping someone can show me another image and show me where the good entertainment is now.

I´m Brazilian and I´m having the same feeling, however I still loving the game.

I guess it depends on how you're defining 'hype'. If you're going off of volume of players it seems like there are fewer overall, but players are also more spread out as more clients have come out -particularly GGPoker. If you're referring to the volume of marketing each client puts out I think it's just more targeted now as providers focus on new or emerging markets like US states, and parts of Asia. There's also more of a focus on new services, like sports betting on sites that pivot where poker clients put their advertising budget. Either way there's always swings in the poker market, the important thing is that it's still profitable for us players.
