I have recently travelled to the casino (4 hours by bus) where I met an old poker buddy who tells me that he have relocated to play poker daily as a living for 2 years already. His BR swings at an ave of $100K every now & then as he sustains $3K a month for the the family expenses. That to me is a pro & I wouldn't like to live in such conditions so I'm maintaining poker as just a hobby.

For me, poker is more than just a hobby; it's a passion that I've honed into a profession. What started as a casual interest evolved into a deep fascination with the strategic complexities of the game. Now, I approach poker with the mindset of a professional, dedicating time to study, continuous improvement, and staying on top of the ever-evolving dynamics of the poker world.

Turning it into a profession comes with its challenges, sure, but the thrill of the game, the strategic depth, and the potential for financial rewards make it a fulfilling career choice. It's not just about the cards; it's about the mental game, the constant learning, and the satisfaction of making well-calculated decisions. So, for me, poker has become more than just a pastime – it's a profession I'm passionate about.

For me poker is just a hobby. I have a lot of fun playing.

If it were my profession I would treat it much more seriously and probably wouldn't have fun playing it, it would be an obligation.

Running a poker site is a business. Working for a site is a profession. Playing poker is a hustle.

Poker can be considered both as a job and as a hobby, but when I started to get involved in gambling, especially poker, I didn’t think about it. But for a person without education, a well-paid job and rich relatives, poker is a good chance to get a job in this life and have a decent income.

Absolutely as a hobby. It would be very difficult to make a living in poker due to variance. You would need to work long hours too to get an edge.

Depending on the person, some take it as a real profession since they invest a lot of time in learning in relation to others who see it as a hobby that they play for fun.

I started playing poker as a hobby and as the months went by I started to take it seriously after investigating the high profits that many players were obtaining, so this year I decided to become a professional poker player.

It's a serious hobby that I don't take seriously (health issues), but I still play 1 or 2 CC freerolls a day. They are relatively short, not crowded, the players are nice, it's not all in every hand and occasionally I win some cash or tickets.

For me is a hobby. But is a huge passion and I felt all that in my first ever live event. I won a satty entry to a live event and the experience was unique and unforgettable. For all the new guys in poker try all the free sattys and record ur first live event … it will be funny in some years

Hobby.
Happily helps me pass time.
If only i had the money to go on the tours. Even then it would still be a hobby. I play totally for enjoyment.
Would at best make amateur career player status. Dont think i could handle all the commitments of a true professional.

So far I have to say that I am an amateur, rather than a hobby, I feel it as a preparation for future professionalism.
