I personally don't believe that it is, yes, money is involved in this game, but there are other games and tournaments that also involves money. Also unlike typical casino games like blackjack, more skill than luck is involved to do well in this game.

I'm curious to hear what you guys think.

I think it's gambling even though skill is involved and your results are mostly based on your skill and a little bit of luck. The reason I say it's gambling is because you're basically risking money to win money if you're playing for money and that by definition is gambling in my book.

If more people say that poker is gambling, then I myself will be convinced to say that it is gambling as well.

poker is not a gamble because there is no random factor only human factor and it's up to you whether you enter or wait and not like a slot machine where you have to spin

It is actually not a matter of opinion.

Gambling is the act of wagering or betting money or something of value on an event with an uncertain outcome with the intent to win more money or things of value than was wagered. Therefore, whenever you buy-in to play poker, it is gambling.

poker is a game of skill, and that can be seen in the long term results, we must always know that in any long term game luck is zero.

I think anything you wager money on is gambling, so if you put money in to play poker yes you're gambling. ... there is more skill than luck involved but yes there is luck and randomness in the deal of the cards, RNG = Random Number Generator after all👍

Well it depends on your definition of gambling game.
If you consider that poker is a casino (or online) game in which you engage (bet?) money , then it's a gambling game.
But if you only consider the mutual part of skills and luck in poker , then it's probably not a gambling game.

If it was gambling there wouldn't be any pros.

imo it's more about skill at Pro level.
gambling is definetly involved in poker but success is because of skill rather than gambling and being lucky

Yes it is gambling, cause you don't have any control over the outcomes.

I have never entered a poker game thinking about the money I could win, for me it is a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours socialising with people that enjoy the game as much as I do.
At my local where I used to play every week, we had a £5.00 buy-in and we could be playing for around 3 hours, compared to a football match or film at the cinema which would last around 90 minutes, and cost a hell of a lot more than £5.00. I think of it as a cheap way of passing the time with friends.
Gambling? Sure it is, but so is crossing the road's, It only becomes a problem when you start chasing money you have already lost, trying to win it back, then you are on a slippery slope that leads one way. Down!
