Books are totally relevant depending on what you want to accomplish.

But, hey, whatever floats your flop.

I still feel that any info you can get from a book can be obtained online and you will find it easier to find info that will match your chosen style of play.
Wonder what books you've read to make this comparison?

You can never go wrong with books, especially if you are a beginner. I would recommend ''Harrington on holdem'', both volumes. This will teach you everything you need to know if you are a beginner. Starting hand ranges, positon, c-betting, semi-bluffing, with a lot of examples. Sklansky's book is also very good.

My input on poker lit

I have read many books about poker the most informing book i have came across is gus hansons "everyhand revealed". Its very important to figure out were your game needs the most help. Then search for the book that targets your weaknesses. Overall i do believe that playing and practice is the best way to improve and or progress the fastest. I hope my post was of some help. I just joined cardchat and posted my intro thread dont be strangers!

I think there are some poker books out there that are still relevant.
Especially the ones that stress the basics of poker.

A lot depends on your style, which games you want to learn, get better at and
cash or tourney situations?

Many new players join both the live and online world because of TV poker shows and
there is nothing wrong with them (I enjoy them) but they don’t show the viewers the hours of folding
and waiting that you must endure at the tables.

Once they learn the real odds of hitting that gut shot, inside straight, flush or
whatever they saw on TV they will wish they had read some of those books
explaining the basics of poker.
(While at the ATM getting some more cash)

And yes I love when those players sit down at a table with me
and give me their money!

So yeah, don’t bother reading, studying or getting better at poker
just keep drawing to that one outer........it’ll happen!
Trust me.........:D
