I have been playing poker for almost 5 years.
Always as a hobby, the money I win or loose don't make any diference in my life.
What about you guys?

Winning is always fun but I gotta pay for fun or it will drive me crazy trying to make money at it.

I have been playing around in the free rolls enough to justify putting a few dollars down. If you figure it out, you can go out and see a concert, drink some beers, or put some money on a poker site. If you do lose, then you have spent money enjoying playing poker.
I think that is the best way to think about it. I used to play and if I had a bank roll, I would cash out, instead of trying to move up in ranks. I make enough money now where it would make sense to let it ride for a little bit. Before when I played, I didn't make a whole lot of money and I had small children. I just couldn't justify leaving money and risking it when I could be using the money to pay some bills or what ever the family needed.
I feel I can play more for fun now, making money while playing is more fun to me than playing and losing though. lol
