I really hope so, as the person who you were rude to was only trying to help you.

Money does affect my game...all the time.
It's the fear of taking risks and losing money, which should not affect your game.

It's hard not to dwell on money sometimes. I play tournaments and if I make a questionable ICM play and lose I'll get pretty choked because the EV cost of it is always significant on final tables. At the same time, I'm pretty reasonable with myself and shake it off pretty quick. I find that win I win a big pot or lose a big pot I tend to sorta reverse tilt and tilt and start playing too many hands after. So I usually remind myself just to play standard for a bit after big pots.

Well this is my official stance on worrying about money while playing . I once read a post somewhere talking about The_Battler_33 where the poster was describing his play style. The line that I distinctly remember from that post was "when you have no worries you can play like a demon". Now with that said, all great players usually have good bankroll management, and if you have that then you allow yourself to play the way you choose in any given game. You won't allow yourself the burden of worry, because you know if you get knocked out or lose your initial buy in that you have at least 20-30 more waiting for you. If you're playing a tourney or a ring game that is too expensive for your bankroll then you WILL NOT be able to play optimally. That's basically what it boils down to for EVERYONE. Now the fashion that one plays beyond that is a different subject.

A great example of this in the poker world is described by the book:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Professor,_the_Banker,_and_the_Suicide_King

What billionaire Andy Beal did was to play a game so large that it took established, name pros out of their comfort level. When you play within your bankroll, money doesn't really affect you. When you make a loss equivalent to severe financial pain, your decisions will be affected, period.

I made a rookie mistake early in my online career and it was a fold made strictly on payouts, not what I would consider (now) to be good play, even with ICM considerations.

This was back when the big PS game was the 500K gtd (before it became the millions) and I found myself with 19 players left, literally weeks after I had been on Stars, having deposited < $200 (I sattied in). 19th paid about 2.3K and 18th paid 3.8K, a huge difference. The exact scenario I cannot accurately recall, but I found myself folding JJ pre with about 15-20 BBs, all because I wanted that pay jump. I wasn't playing for the win ... I was playing for the increased cash amt.

I think is both one of the most important skills to master, as well as one of the most difficult.

I just try to do my best to think of everything in BBs and never think of money. But it's only human to feel it here and there.

Yo! I gotta think a huge part of being one of the best poker players is not letting money effect your play, Personally I think I play much better when I am not letting the money affect me probably cause then I won't tilt, making the money seem like play money and focusing on crushing souls is they key isn't it???
Phil Ivey is the best player out there and he doesn't seem to worry too much about money which is why he is the best! :) Where would you rank this aspect of poker? and do you think you can be one of the best without it?
It is good idea for Phil Ivey. He is control not so much 'who is big stacks' or 'small stack'
I think Phil Ivey is bad beat and loss but hey another day he said and move on.
not so much Phil hellmuth he is too much talking! It's really kind of funny, He got mad and quit! :D:D:D:D
btw WONDERFUL PHIL IVEY at YOUTUBE

playing with "scared " money is most definitely not good, just like anything else in life, you must be relaxed and comfortable to allow your "real" thoughts to work. decisions based on emotion are seldom right. :afraid: , , :D , :( , will always equal  in the end
