This is decision that everybody should take personally. I prefer MTTs as they are easier to follow good bankroll management (only your buyin is at risk) and you have the chance to win big with small investment. Of course there is always risk in MTT to play for few hours, bust before bubble and leave with nothing also. :D

I find like many others than in order to manage my bankroll I need to just stick to tournaments otherwise my bankroll eventually dwindles just playing cash tables.

to play cash you need software, work on the game and training. MTT is easier

I think need to try both and find what is best for you. Don't forget to check out SNG's too.

At first I just wanted to play cash tables. I liked that I could come and go as I please and the convenience that comes with that. But I got invited to a MTT home game and liked it so I started playing some MTT's online and did well. I also liked that in MTT's you never lose more than your buy in.

But OTOH with MTT's I don't like not knowing how long I'm going to play or the variance. It's big thrill to go deep in an MTT and win 20 or more times my buy in. But its big letdown to get knocked early. Especially after looking at aces and calling a shove by someone with total junk. When someone stacks me on a cash table after making a bad play and getting lucky, I just take a note on them and restack up looking for an opportunity to exploit. In an MTT when knocked out that way I could rebuy but I have to consider the stage of the tourney and my chances of cashing, not just the player I want to pick on.

Right now I'm getting into SNG's. But I still play cash and some MTT's. Cash tables require a strong deep stacked game, which I am finding much more challenging to learn. In tournaments I've been able to make much more sense out of the short stacked play in the later stage of the tourney. SNG's give me most of the convenience of cash with less variance than MTT, and have most of the emphasis on short stacked play.

I have only one piece of advice. If you have acquired the necessary skill for gambling, continue gambling. If you decide to switch to MTT, then you should consider the difference between MTT and cash game. You should also take into account the time you spend learning the specifics of MTTs and the big difference in MTTs versus cash games.
I often play spin-and-go with a minimum bankroll, here I increase my bankroll to the required amount. But you should understand that this type is the most varied and your correct decision will not always bring you profit. As such, you also need to spend time learning game theory and mastering the necessary skill.
But whatever you choose, I wish you luck, fewer black bars and more earnings in this area.

In my opinion, the main reason why most people fail at poker is not due to their lack of technical knowledge of the game. In fact, at micro stakes today, some players know too much theory! The real reason why they cannot achieve real results at the poker tables is their inability to consistently apply this knowledge while playing.

I like cash a lot so I can leave a table whenever I want, apart from if you have a little knowledge you will be a winner, but tournaments are good at looking for a bomb that with a good tournament that you win I can win a good amount of money

cash game

Cash gambling is one of the best options, whether you are winning or losing, you can choose to quit.

Really depends on your makeup. I talk to really good cash game player who don’t like the long hours. I prefer to spend the time in tournament. I like preflop play strategy.
Though early in the tournament or when one is deep stacked it can play like a cash game so I developed that part of my game.
Have to make those decisions on the turn or river that more critical than preflop

Do not let a downswing get you down (as long as you were sticking to your strategy and not letting emotion or tilt splash your money away.

If you are playing "correctly" and getting beaten by 27o via a preflop shove busting big slick or cowboys, well, that's just probability. It's going to happen. And sometimes it is going to happen all at once, hand after hand.

The things which should make you consider switching games is when you follow a strat, and you lose, not because of luck, but by being beaten by better play. Either you need to adjust or you need to get out in such circumstances. (I'm still trying to adjust!).

From another perspective, I think cash games tend to be much tighter affairs. You're not fighting against time in the same way as with the merciless advancement of the blinds. With MTT's it is about staying ahead so you can reach the final table. With cash games, you've already made the final table just by sitting down.

With cash, it is about how much money can you make per hour. With MTT's, you're trying to make it to the cashes.

I suggest you play the game which gives you the most reward. This may be monetary, or it may simply be the pleasure of the game. Keep working and keep moving forward!

Cheers,
ObbleeXY

Good people, not long ago I started playing poker again, about 5 months ago and since I started I had losses and gains practically the same, lately I have been winning more since I improved my strategy but this week I come from a very bad streak and no so much for bad decisions but for bad luck and I was left with a very low stack about 20usd to what I was thinking. is it better to play MTTs with a low stack or to continue at cash tables? How can I better control my bankroll, could you give me some advice please

You can alternate or combine them. If I'm bored in a tournament, I also play cash at another table. But lately I rarely play it like I used to. Everyone has their UPS and downs. Poker is not an easy game. Train your mind.
