We just announced that we are starting a CardsChat podcast:

CardsChat is Launching a Podcast!

This thread is where you submit questions to ask podcast guests questions that we will answer during our weekly podcasts.

We will let you know in advance when we have a guest you can submit questions for.

Here are some ideas of questions you can submit that would be considered:

Guests - you can submit questions about their experiences in poker, strategy questions, what they are currently involved in - and just about anything you want to know about them.

Please limit your questions to a maximum of 3 per guests so everyone has a chance to get a question in.

We are now taking questions for Jamie Kerstetter. She is an amazing poker pro who has also won a lot of respect as a commentator.

What would you like to ask Jamie?

Wow, we have a "big name" poker player here :) This is what I would write to Jamie:

I am fairly new to poker, but I notice that we share a lot in common. For instance, you [Jamie] graduated from Rutgers University and got your J.D. from University of Michigan before changing career paths for poker. I am a college student transferring into University of Michigan as we speak. Becoming a lawyer was one of the career options I almost pursued as well (several of my friends are lawyers), but I too changed paths. Except instead of poker, I decided to pursue psychology which I've always loved and naturally had a knack for.

As someone greatly interested in the psychology behind the game of poker, how much of a role does "poker psychology" play into your personal poker game? Furthermore, what form does psychology take when you play at various stakes?

p.s. I personally believe the average person realizes poker isn't as psychologically heavy as the Hollywood movies portray, (with people bluffing every other hand) once they begin to play the game of poker themselves. I was always aware of this difference, but I still believe psychology has a large role to play in poker - just not in the same form most players expect.

I would like to ask Debi and/or Tammy for some background on Nick the founder of Cardschat and his current role? He used to be active in the forum but we haven't seen anything from him in a very long time. In fact, I would vey much like to hear from Nick on one of the podcasts.

If anyone has any questions for Sean McCormick (Poker Room Manager at the Aria) we have 1 day to get some questions in!

We are also taking general questions - anything you would like us to ask poker pros in general about lifestyle, playing on the road, live tournament and cash games etc.

Let's get some more questions in - we want you to be part of the podcast!

If any of the Pros are married and/or in a long term relationship - how do they manage to keep that relationship alive and thriving when on the road so much?

Question for Sean:

I have personally held several management positions, but I am completely newer to the realm of poker and never been inside a real casino before (I was excitedly planning a day of going to one, but then the covid-19 pandemic hit: I plan on going once they re-open and it is safe again). How would you say management of a poker room differs from a traditional management position? I'd imagine the similarities far outweigh the differences, but at least you have an interesting subject of poker in day-to-day operations.

Apologies Robbie & Sean, I only have questions for the ladies.... (This is not sexism [being feminist is just a coincidence :p])

Debi & Tammy:

There have been ripples about upcoming large-scale changes at cardschat with regards to the site, platform and forums, can you tell us anything about what these changes might entail with regards to what will be different, what will stay the same, new features or additions and any deadwood which might be removed? Eternal thank-yous and :adore::adore::adore::love:

Jamie:

1a)
As a poker pro do you think being in a relationship with (or marrying) another poker pro is +EV, -EV or EV neutral?

1b)
expected value aside, what do you think the major Pros & Cons are/would be?

2) What are your thoughts on the gender disparity in poker and what do you think should be done to encourage the fairer sex to the felts?

Question for Sean:

What is involved in getting the Aria opened back up during this pandemic? Specifically, how will they be setting up poker games?

The interview with Sean was moved up a day so I don't think these made it in. :(

when are we going to open an tournament at Natural8

Don't think this is a question for the podcast but the answer is there are no plans at all.

Good news - we did get those 2 questions for Sean in! :)

We are now looking for questions for Phil Galfond and Maria Konnikova - please specify who your questions are for.

We also still need general questions we can ask any pro so load us up with some of those!

Thanks!

Questions for both Phil and Maria:

#1: What was the biggest stumbling block that you had to overcome at the beginning of your poker career and what steps did you take to address it?

#2: How do you think COVID-19 will affect live poker in the long run and how do you plan to adjust?

Question for Phil:

You're widely regarded as a top PLO authority with your training site and lately the heads-up matches... What was your biggest aha moment when learning PLO and what would you say is the most important lesson you learned when moving through the stakes?

Thanks! :D
