older folks still like and play limit, but it is a dying bread and once the older generation stops playing poker, I thing it will be gone completely.

Limit Holdem is like a friendly family game. Family pots etc. There are no friends at the table in NL. Every man for himself!

With all the crazies out there going all in with crappy hands I just count the days when limit will be the norm again..

I don't care for limit poker. If you are a passive player I
guess that is your game, but if I got the nuts I like to be able
to get all the chips I can.

Good news

Ameristar in Blackhawk, CO runs a super juicy fixed limit game. Stakes are 30/60 with a half kill and the game is literally running 24/7 with a 50/100 game going 2-3 nights a week. It is super juicy because Colorado has a $100 betting limit state wide so you can't actually play no limit. They have 1-2-100 and 2-5-100 spread limit which ultimately ends up playing like a lame weird limit game anyways as you can only bet $100 into a $xyz size pot. So as result, all the high stakes fish in Colorado who want action have resorted to playing 30/60-50/100 limit. It's a pretty interesting scene up there. Not that those stakes in limit are super high or anything but there is typically 20-30k on the table in 30/60 and 40-50k in 50/100. The game consists of mostly regulars with a few solid grinders and then rich fish. It's like half Asian usually. Anyways, I know that limit fans from all over the country travel there to play in that game so other than the 40/80 game that sometimes gets running at the Bellagio it's the best limit game in the country. If you played in it you'd thank me so, you're welcome.

Not much strategy in limit holdem compared to no limit hard to defend your hand against any lousy draw
This pretty much sums up my opinion of limit holdem. The dynamic is so much different because no limit allows for such a wider range of plays. Limit poker leans more towards playing your hand and the odds. Limit poker can offer some very healthy pot odds giving many players a legitimate reason to continue in the hand.

Boring, slow and not enough action. Having said that it's the game I grew up on and had a lot of fun playing.

They are slower and not very popular, but a good game for a beginning player to grind out a monthly. Less variance and lots of weak players. Just takes a different kinda strategy. NLHE games are hard for a beginner to make a good hourly or monthly rate. With all the info out now days there are many good enough players in NL to make it difficult for a beginner to grind out a decent monthly rate.

I believe that NL Hold'em has bigger prospects. But the limited Hold'em is still well suited for playing live with friends on weekends.
