So i Finally got around to watching the wsop 2007. can somebody tell me how J. Yang walked away with the bracelet? He was the biggest fish, donkey, or anyother animal you want to call him i have ever seen. While he was catching cards like mad, he was making HORRIBLE calls to other player all ins, granted he won alot of them, his hand wasnt that great, odds were against him, not even pot odds made it right for him to call. watching that man play reminded me of when i started playing and i threw chips around. If i resort to that can i win a championship too? WPT maybe i got a casino about 2 hrs away that has a WPT comitition. all i have to say is AWFUL POKER!

Leading up to the final table, Yang actually played great poker. It was his year to take down the bracelet. Some of his decisios were a little questionable, but overall, I'd say he had a well played tournament. He's a much better champion than Jamie Gold was, he earned it.

He definitely did not play great poker lol. bluffing all-in with A4o then winning when you hit the belly straight when you know your opponent has the odds and chips to call your all-in is not playing great poker. Then again I honestly think he didn't take pot odds into consideration there or for the most part. I actually think Jamie Gold would beat J. Yang and I hate Jamie.

Yeah I also saw that "make me a beliver" line from the wife. So in order to make you a believer God must ship you money? :D

And Jerry is only going to donate 10% of his earnings to charity. From his constant prayers I thought he would donate it all. Well but at least better than anyone else who is not going to donate a cent. :)

I don't like Jerry Yang, I can't stand all his praying and stuff at the table. BUT, I will say that if he made it to the final table in the main event (no matter where he finishes) he can obviously play some poker.

Jamie Gold not only made it to the final table, but WON the ME; does that mean he can really play poker? Hell No.

That's what I thought when I saw him play.

"As of 2007, Gold's total live tournament winnings exceed a record $12,100,000, and he was the first person to eclipse the $10,000,000 mark in tournament poker.[19]"

From a wikipedia article on him, if you read the article it doesn't sound like the horrible player who got lucky as sh** as it seemed from watching the final table.

from wat i remember, but i dont remember it too well, at the FT with like 4 guys left he had the best hand preflop and called opponent all-ins 2 or 3 times which he got beat, doubling up each of his opponents, so i dont member too many bad plays, but i didnt see the whole event and only remember those few times he got nailed.

Yang is not bad at poker, not bad at all. Did he deserve to win the ME? Who cares, the fact is he did. Do I think he will continue to prosper in the world of poker? Not a chance.

I don't dislike him because of his play, I dislike him because of his praying at the table for cards. And I'm not against religion at all. But the poker table is not the place to do it, at least not out loud. Besides the fact that the Christian God is against games of chance, ie gambling, it makes you wonder exactly how "devout" Yang really is.

You know, every year it's the same......(fill in the blank) won, god he's so horrible, I could whip his ass, yadayadayada. NOBODY likes a frontrunner, it seems. And in poker, it's true, ya know. Get on a rush at the right time, pull a miracle outta your......hat once or twice, you or I could win a major tournament. RRRRright! In every huge tournament, the eventual winner gets the sun shining out his butt at some point, or he wouldn't get there. Look at the past few ME winners: Varconi=joke(although he did cash this year), Moneymaker=joke; the closest he's come to winning anything since was the blind man's bluff title couple years back, Raymer- not a complete joke, smart guy, has exposed a couple of major tells in his game since, Hachem, not a joke, very solid player......but look at his winning hand. Pushed with a 73os, and caught a 465 flop. J Gold, luckbox, card rack, shoulda been penalized repeatedly for talk/actions, attempted collusion, you name it. Andnow, everybody wants to jump Jerry Yang, 'cause he prays, and he caught an inside straight at a key spot. Everybody catches lightning in a bottle once in a while, and isn't it different, and dare I say(gasp) refreshing to have a champ with morals, and scruples, and real religious conviction as this year's "face of poker"? Who would y'all rather see in that spot, Havad Khan? Eric Molina? Tony G?

Enough ranting, go on with all of your booing and hooing.

Actually, I'd find Tony G taking down the Main Event funny as hell. We'd never hear the end of it!

Anybody other than Havad Khan or Humberto Brenes. I'd kill those guys if I could get away with it. So annoying...

While I can say that from what I have seen from WSOP tapes I do not like Jerry Yang. He was a horrid poker player (in my opinion) and annoying as a person.

Just my opinion, he did not deserve that bracelet but without luck no one can get one :)

From a wikipedia article on him, if you read the article it doesn't sound like the horrible player who got lucky as sh** as it seemed from watching the final table.

99.9% of that total live tournament winnings is the $12,033,015 that he won in the main event in 2006 since then his only decent payout was around $30,000 profit from fininshing 35th of 362 at the European WSOP.

I've seen him a few times on poker after dark and the man has very little skill he won't be competing at a top level for a long time.

Yang I haven't seen much of yet so I cant say one way or another we'll see if he's able to stick around and make a name for himself like Joe Hachem seems to be doing, but if his final table play is any indication its much more likely he'll fade into obscurity like Robert Varkonyi, Chris Moneymaker, and hopefully Jamie gold.

ReglarDave, wasnt Eric Molina that kid last year who got sent to rail for saying the F-bomb, and when he came back said his new cussword was "carebear"? if im thinking of the right person, that would be awesome! he was very entertaining to watch, and id take him over the other 2, Yang & Gold any day of the week! i remember watching wsop last year, and he was the funniest player in the entire tourney.:D
