I would cash out as well, even though it's a dream of mine to play in it! I typically play in $35 dollar tournaments, so buying in for 10k is quite a large leap. I just feel I would be more likely to do something with the 10k playing in cash games or smaller tournaments, then lose it all at one time.

Is it possible that instead of playing the Main Event you could play a smaller event or two--especially if no limit holdem is not your best game--and cash out the rest? If so, do that.

I wouldn't try and win a seat and then cash out. I'd go just to be able to say I played in the main event. Then afterwards I'd whine about how useful the $10k would have been.

What he said :)

In this economy I'd really have to take the cash. Plus, if I had $10k in my name no way I'd convince my wife I needed to play, unless I tell her I won the seat and there's no way to just take the money...hmmmm....

I would play in the M.E. $10,000 would be nice but thru bills and just everyday living it would be gone soon enough.

Play in the main event and if you get to the money then youve won the $10,000 plus that's in question. And who knows you could run really good and really make a good payday.

Ask Moneymaker if he wishes he would of just cashed in the $10,000

I actually read a guy's thread yesterday who'd won a MainEvent Pkg. from playing that $1 donkament on Fulltilt. This guy has quite a few low buyin MTT cashes already ($10-$50) and has put in some volume. I think he's going to play it. Not to hijack this.... but would you play it if'd you'd won it from a $1 game?

I know a guy who won a Corvette in a charity money raiser drawing. Man that thing looked out of place parked in fromt of his $350.00 a month apartment. LOL

What I am saying is the decision is not really subjective, Its clearly a bankroll issue. If you are a top notch player with a bankroll over 500K you should think about playing. If you are a college student with student loans, then obv u should take the money.

Though I would love the opportunity to play, at this time I would cash out. One, the money would be best applied to my family's needs, and two it would prove to my wife I'm not just wasting time playing poker. To have her cut me some slack about playing would be worth more than the prize money. However, if I qualified again in the future, I would be inclined to play.

I'm pretty sure I would play in the wsop, I mean it's the WSOP ME!!! If Darvin Moon can finish second, anyone can!!![/quote]
This is what I'm thinking^^^

Take the money. It's a long shot, but I know I would need the the 10K more than risking it all.

Yep, def cash out. It would be sweet to play, but even sweeter to have the cash available to play more online without worry.

Well... I would cash it out... I need the cash at the moment... I'm 22 and looking at playing WSOP ME later in my life... So cash out if the deffo opinion for me!

Cash out and play 5x$2000 buy-ins or 4x$1500+2x$2000 = more enjoyment imo and possibly enough winnings to play the ME (if i run like jamie gold or something, lol)

I would cash out as well, even though it's a dream of mine to play in it! I typically play in $35 dollar tournaments, so buying in for 10k is quite a large leap. I just feel I would be more likely to do something with the 10k playing in cash games or smaller tournaments, then lose it all at one time.

I have been laid off for a year and a half I don't have a vehicle and could definatly use the money WITH THAT SAID..... I play in the ME because I would always have that what if hanging over my head. I look at it like this I have enough confidence in my LIVE game to take the once in a life time opportunity. Just cashing your gonna double the buy in and with the structure of the tournament I would love to just give it a go. For me it would be much better playing and failing then to not play and not know what would have happened.

Take the money and run, cash out. There's no way I could place in that game. Some money's always better than none.

I would be hard pressed to say. Instinctively I say YES!! But as I said above, It easy to assume you would do this or that, but do you really know? I have entered a couple of FRs to satellites, and got to stage 2 twice, ( FR to stage 1, stage 1 wins ticket to stage 2 etc., to stage 4 which is a PKG to a 1500 side event, with travel and hotel) but havent made stage 3 yet, so my big question would be Am I good enough, or should I take the cash and have a decent BR and set my sites on next year? I have only been playing since last winter. Ive gotten better by leaps and bounds, but........ Am I ready now????? Thats where my head is at on this one, but, as I said, who really knows? If I had a bit more experience behind me, then I think it would be an automatic "Yes".

I would cash out, then go and play in one of the smaller lower limit buyins tournments. If I did well in that one and won enough money to play in the main event then I would play in it.

I'd play, like someone said before it's a life-time experience, sure money is great, but knowing that you won a WSOP seat beating everyone else at the tourney, and even better if you make the money at WSOP, imagine that.

Wow, some really excellent responses...I'm still undecided  although I'm sliding off the fence towards natsgrampy & others' thinking along the lines of a couple of lower buy-in tourneys & 'rewinning' a ME seat...as mentioned by fletchdad & others, I dunno what I would do until the time comes (heck I have a tough enough time deciding what to wear in the AM). :p

I did hear on the local news that this year's ME is anticipated to have the largest crowd ever as current ticket sales are ahead of the norm than in the past.

For me. I would love to play in the ME. Just to say that I had the chance to play in it, and see where my fortunes take me from there.

Right now, i'm playing the STEPS on FT, and i'm trying to win multiple entires. Although the idea of playing the ME intrigues me, it is also a huge crapshoot. I would like to try and have some TD to fall back on.
