I have never understood why some people feel the need to belittle and berate other players. While some fun banter is fine, it always amazes me when it goes over the line. The off par is how often I see it and the players who are doing it are not necessary playing that great themself. I try to treat others as I want to be treated.

With me, too, it often happens that a “smarter” player comments on my game. for example, what I want with these cards or why I didn’t raise bigger with such a hand?
I don’t consider myself a good player, and I’m happy to accept advice from a more experienced player, but it’s interesting that whoever criticizes my style of playwill be eliminated on the next hand

Everyone has there moments where they come off alittle bit of a "dink "
We all have our days mind u alit of the trolls that try to make people mad is simply because to get them out of a free and eased mind they can manipulate there surroundings and come out on top...or atleast they feel there onto...(I'm also speaking about in a card game thought I should clarify that just to be safe.)
Cause when your not using the full potential of your brain is when you start slipping up. I.e. being tired, pre occupied, not feeling itthat time and place...
If everyone was polite and not trolls out there ever.....well we'd be living in demolition man"greetings and salutations Im associate Bob."

and the truth is I don't consider myself a bad player, but I do want to have a little more luck! even more so in the big tournaments, millionaires! where I see that players with a bracelet or with poker site logos have quite an advantage!

Talk all the smack you want. Back it up and I'll say right on. Fail to do so and suffer humiliation. All part of the game.

Hmmm, sounds like they are taunting or provoking the people in order to deviate their focus, might be a strategy if you think about it. That's why I don't really pay attention to chat, and of course I don't recommend you to do that either. :)

This is spot on. You can use words to get a player to go in when they shouldn't and get some to sit out when they should have stayed in the hand. I just thinks its a part of a persons arsenal. Good for them if they use it for their benefit.

For me I like when the cards do the talking.

that's why I don't even look at the chat, I just focus on the game so as not to be influenced in any way.

How often do you see players talking smack on the tables about how bad other players play? I been playing non stop the past year and i found out some funny things. Players who put down other players play i find make the same mistakes and more. Players that say they are good but never win are my favorite ones and the topic. If you think you are a good poker player but you lose all the time, Then most likely your are not a good poker player. Are you that player or do you know that no matter how good you are there is always a way to lose. It took me a long while to learn not to tell ppl that im a good player cause why would you. Bad beats shouldnt hurt you if you got a Bankroll and a good head on ya.

I have found exactly the same in Live games, I ran a Poker League for my local pub for over 6 years and one of our regular players qualified for the Regional Finals and finished 2nd and Qualified then for the National Finals which they play every 12 months He went out first hand in that game.
The point is one night we had a person turn up at our Local Pub game and when he saw me setting out the tables and chips etc, he asked if anyone was allowed to play, "of course" I said "We run a League System but all the buy-ins go out in the prize pool at the end of the night, we don't make any deductions for the League"
He registered for the game, paid his buy in and was unfortunate to be seated at the same table as our Finalist, During a hand early on they were involved in the same hand, and our Finalist said to him "You do realise who you are up against here?" "I'm a National player" The stranger looked at me and said "what is he going on about"
I explained that he had made the Regional Finals then Qualified for the National Final but don't worry he went out first hand in the Nationals, We all had a laugh about it, all except the Finalist, and when the hand was over the stranger took him out with 2 pair against his single pair of Aces, We laughed all the more.
The morale is "Do not blow your own Trumpet" No matter how good you think you are, there will always be someone better!

When the fun Stops, STOP!

silence is the best weapon, I don't even like to say that I play poker. it's something very personal, I just play and that's it!
if the results are given, happy and silent and if the results are not given. Similarly

I miss the trash talking

Exactly! Especially I do not like people giving advices when nobody asked for. Everyone just playing their own style and if you win with worst cards then your opponent so it means it means it is you putting yourself in the risk. Then I also noticed when people blaming your game after bad beat and starts to tilt next hands with really scrap cards. Poker is poker it is game of bluff ,skills and luck factors.

On wsop, there used to be a lot of trash talking. I didn't do it, but when they did it to me, it encouraged me to play more tight so I could knock out the bully with a monstor hand. Vengeance can be sweeeet in poker. Sadly the chat is disabled. It just made the game more fun.

To be completely honest
The ego of being the best
adds to ones confidence at the table
more confidence means smoother calmer thinking and the demeanor to back it.

confidence doesn't mean youre actually even good

but being scared at the table is a death sentence
and insighting fear causes weak tight opponents

To think. And believing that you are good is essential for your own positivism, it is really the form or attitude that you must demonstrate, of course we are exemplary. Well, not to be it is because you are not interested in the game, and if we are here you are very good and we have to continue like this, a totally positive thought and attitude, and if for various reasons you lose a tournament or section you are playing, simply the variance for today was not on our side, to correct and follow the discipline and attitude of our game, tomorrow will be another day ,,, luck and let's not lose that path, that in the long term we will win ,,,

For me, it's a matter of self-confidence, not that I am a good player, but in the decisions I make in game. That latter part is where I feel like I do well and what matters more to me. Sometimes those decisions work, sometimes they don't, that's how the game is. Whether that means I'm a good player or not, to me those kinds of thoughts are noise, similar to when sports pundits do their "Power Rankings". It's a subjective look at who's good and who's not good.

I don't get caught up in that, because in the grand scheme of things, it's not worth the time and energy to tell people how great you are. If someone compliments a game I played or a play I made, I appreciate that.

One thing sticks out in my mind that I found amusing - in a freeroll a few months ago, we were on the money bubble, and I was in the Small Blind, and I had the Big Blind covered, and I shoved pre-flop. They called with Ax and doubled (I might have had Q high or something), but I found it amusing when they immediately started to berate me for making that play, like I had the "gall" to do that to them or something. I was just playing the situation and wanted to take advantage of it. It didn't work, so you just move on. But I had a good laugh about that.

Am I a good player? I have no idea, and more importantly, I don't place importance in answering that question.

In my experience in poker even though I have been playing for a while there is still lots to learn and lots of better players than myself.

When there is a player at the table that judges every play, I just ask him if and how I should play my hand. Eventually he shut up.

Idt im a good player but really not that bad either..lol. But I do love it when players talk trash and then I spank em and their like yr a fish. Im a shark buddy hahaha swimming away with their money. I can crush it on live tables but online is a lil tougher for me but im adjusting relatively well. Good luck and crush em with no remorse.
