Fish usually get most angry at the table. They don't understand the gambling concepts. This has been mostly my experience

We all have our signs of recognizing the good and the bad player. My favorite dead tell of a fish is in cash games where they cant wait for the big blind to come to them and they post it out of position. Whats yours?

People with poker themed screennames are mostly terrible from my experiences. WinkWink

Not rebuying automatically in cash games is also a sign of fish.

11. Folds too much on the BB
12.Shows right away his made hand/donk bet every time
13.Rarely bet his draws/only the made hands
14.Almost never 3 bets / squeezes
15.Open raises every BTN
16.opens >= 3bbs when deep in an MTT
17.Open shoves with 25bbs+ out of the blue and not being near bubble phase
18.Completes too often the SB
19.Pot size bets in general (especially in super dry boards)
20. Bets every time when you check!

Thoughtful ones on how to recognise a fish on a higher level, and not just the usual micros fish.

I also wanted to add the bet sizes. Someone betting 2.2x 2.5x and someone just click raise button or raise a stupid amount of blinds. You know who is the easy target and who to play more carefully.

Yeap I agree the standard 3bet size when you are in position is 3 x (initial open raise) , and something between 3.5x - 4x (initial open raise) when we 3bet from the SB against LP open raise. Just wanted to share another piece of info here , some months ago I was watching tonkaaaa and he 3bet his AKo on the SB against an UTG open raise and he sized it up something like 6x-7x(initial amount of open raise)!

If you did not find the fish in the first half hour, then you are fish :)

Learning to identify fish is essential

Success does not depend only on the brilliance of our game, but on the ineptitude of the opponents?

you have to provoke the error of others, because in poker you win the one that makes the least mistake. He who lies a lot, is very wrong and those who know are fed by those mistakes ....

Poker is such a dangerous game bad beats can come from fish and good players.Poker would be no fun if there were no fish players to keep the action going.

There are different types of fish players.

Recreational fish players
Hardcore fish players
Bored fish players
And the GoodPlayer fish players

I'm a Barracuda , I eat some fish and I avoid bigger fish. But eventually get eaten.

My opinion is that the fish plays a lot of hands and often makes a limp rather than a raise. It is strong and likes to call bets.

I use the statistics program - it helps to conclude who plays against me

when the opponent throws many hands it is likely that he does not understand much about the game, and the way to find out this is following him. The problem is when luck is not with you.

Typically fish tends to open up a lot.but can’t fold postflop I played at a table where this fish open up 90 % without regard to position. Call or bet all the way to the river 80% of the time. Betsizing was extremely large and initial success in isolating preflop but once all the reg seen how undisciplined his post flop play was started to have more regs playing back at him

usually a fish plays too much hand in all positions. he bet too much after the flop and do not check enough. he does not have a good reading of the game and especially he does not hesitate to pay the all-in and bet of these opponent preflop with hands that are not strong enough. forgetting that he prefers to listen to his ego and that he can not manage his feelings.

I am sure I have this all wrong, so that probably means I am the fish.

When I play, I seek specific weaknesses from all players at the table, that I believe I might be able to take advantage of. If a player limps too often, then I will keep that in mind when I play him/her. When a player folds to pressure too much, then I will apply pressure when we are in a pot. If I am unable to find a specific weakness, then they automatically become "solid" by default, because they have a balanced game. I really do not label a player, but rather document their specific weakness. I get that if a player has a specific weakness, he probably has more, and therefore is probably a fish. But even solid players may have a specific weakness.

I get that HUD's and stats can really help speed up this process, but since my focus is really to improve my game live, I find it better for me not to rely on HUD's, because I must focus on understanding the play at the table now, not what happened last week or last month. Similar to handicapping an NFL game. It matters very little what happened in September, when we are playing for the playoffs in December.
