I think that if I could have about 1500 dollars in my account each month, I could quietly retire from my job.

If I made $ 50,000 a month, I would earn that amount for a year, I would build some apartments with furniture and rent them out. Here in brazil specifically in the City of Manaus Amazonas where I live this is a profitable business. Then there would be no lack of money to play poker.

Work and poker are not a bad combination, and there is not much money on the account

But how much would you need to win 'online' before you could believe it's 'not rigged'? (you know what I'm sayin'?)

For me it wouldn't take any amount of money for me to quit working at other sources of income & dedicate myself solely to poker. Reasons.. a) I suck at poker (or at least I'm not that good) b) I want to keep poker 'fun' and for me that means keeping it as a recreational hobby

I would agree with that. Once it's about paying bills almost all the fun aspects go away. No unwarranted draw chasing, no big crazy bluffs, no more go with your gut moves. It would all be standard play with not much room for error. The reason it's fun (for me anyway) is because it's not my car payment on the line, it's just money I've already set aside TO LOSE. If I had to win to pay bills, the game would lose some luster.

Depends on age, The older I am the less I would need. If I was older maybe a million, younger double that.

I would like to say 1mil is enough but then I think of inflation rates, my life expectancy, as well as my spouse and kids and then that number goes up to $10mil. That's making sure all mortgage bills and money for college is already set aside. This would need to cover living expenses the life expectancy for a family until kids go to college then the expectancy of 2 once kids are well established and on their own. Not to mention medical bills when the 2 of us are old and grey. So maybe $20 million. That would be enough (maybe). Then I could still have a decent bankroll from that and live a comfortable life till the end of my days. One can dream! Good Luck All!!

In Ukraine the minimal salary ~150$, average salary ~250$. If i earned $ 200 a month in poker, i would not work.

Well...

About 100,000 a year. Unless everything gets cheaper all of a sudden, hahah. Seems excessive but permits alone account for a good chunk of that.

not live poker, the game has variance .. better try to play in your spare time, and improve your poker with articles. But something if it is safe, in the game there is variance, when it is not on your side you will surely need to live on something.

I think half a million will be enough)

Since my country is in this position, for this I need such money to provide for my family, as well as invest them in something profitable ...
Then it will be possible to give up work)

Slow is good. Greed is not!

I have retired as of May 2017 and can play anytime. I would like to earn $1,000.00 a month on average just to prove I can.

I have been playing freerolls only and have earned $132.44 in last 2 months without investing my own money. A big tourney win could change a lifetime. Losing any needed cash for survival and family at poker is out of the question. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Feed and take care of survival needs first. Prove you can play and win freerolls first. Then move on slowly and carefully.

Just say'n. :D

GL and God bless. :ciao: :wavey: :D

People often think that "If I had 1 000 000$ I wouldn't do nothing." Chances are that if you had that money you would somehow end up loosing it (buying cars and stuff you don't need, travelling, partying etc.)

100 000$, 1 000 000$, 100 000 000$ there is no number in that sense. I would quit working if my PASSIVE income would allow me to live- pay rent, buy food & clothes etc.

This depends on country where you leave and how much money you need. Of course lots of people here dream to be a professionals and earn lots of money by playing poker. But as it seems for me - better just to ask yourself is you good enough to play only poker and don,t work at all at normal job.
I think this is a great idea to have a job and play poker in your free time. So you will be in comfortable situation , because you anyway will have money for life and you can invest some of them in poker. If you can show some skill in poker you will earn extra money. I,m sure , you really don,t need to play 24/7 to earn money. You can play high limits just a few hours a day and if you are good enough you will get your money.

Winning any major Sunday MTT would give me enough money maybe not to play poker full time but enough to invest and play poker as a part time income. Majority of your life role should be in investments such as real estate or business.
