it's simple - just don't play it, there are other cool things in the world if poker is bad for you, leave, etc

Been around 20+ years now and pretty much seen every terrible suck you can imagine. A good poker and real life balance works great. Playing for enjoyment, hobby and well within my means $$$ helps. Also as former boxer I have a heavy bag, speed bag and a few free weights I can workout and beat the stuffing outta lol if I get really pissed and need some stress relief. Also glass scotch or two. Plenty of ways really one just needs to find the ways that work for them in the moment and long term.

Now days I just don't get to fired up....so don't really have much of a tilt issue. My biggest tilt is likely enjoying MTT's too much. If I only spent all my time playing cash tables I'd be a lot better off $$$ as overall I make a lot more from cash tables then MTT's. MTT's I'm smallish winner when compared to cash. I just enjoy MTT's way too much to give them up lol.

Cheers!!!

A Rest is good. and count to 100. and start playing again. Never play tired, that makes you make bad decisions. never play with need of money. That makes you stressed and makes you make bad decisions.

The most correct answer is not to play poker). It is impossible to avoid what should be. It's part of poker.

Learn that you won't win every hand, acknowledge that bad beats happen, and look to the next hand not the last, you won't have to worry about tilting ever again. Is it easy to do? No, but it is something that you can do. :)

Be more analytic to your game play. After a bad beat instantly review your actions. If you did not make mistakes and you put your chips in being ahead, then don't think about it anymore. You played right, luck was against you. Luck is an essential part of the game.
If you didn't play right, analyze your mistakes, so next time you won't make them.
Like one pro player said: "I never lose. I either win, or I learn."
Treat your game less emotionally and more academically.
I hope this helps.

Poker it's all about decision-making.
When you feel on tilt, it's time to stop for the day.

By training the mental part well in the learning process and meditating for a few minutes before starting at the tables, I think it would work well.

I had many tilt episoded since I started to play poker around 17 years ago, but in the last years it's very rare to me tilt again. It got better when I start to accept that I'm not going to win everyday and that bad beats will always happen no matter how well I play. When I lose to a bad hand several times, I just think: ok, today it's not my day in this poker room, but maybe tomorrow it will be.

I think you have to try several ways to relax from tilt. Especially online, you have to get used to losing a lot. Because most days it will be lost. In my case calm music.

if you clearly understand cause-reason link and keep thinking then tilt won't be a problem for you, one day you might stop tilting at all...
got it?
You keep things under control if you're thinking about these things... just think about it, and don't let things flow wihout control.

It's hard not to get angry in a game where luck matters. However, in my case, I try to channel my frustration into seeing what I could have done better. When I feel that I couldn't have done anything better, I think that in the long run, variance will be in my favor as long as I play my hands well.

tilt is still a mystery, I saw that many above said that to avoid it, don't play, for me what hurts the most is spending 5 hours in a tournament and suddenly, out of nowhere, tilt

Initially as a Poker player you must accept that there are terribly bad hands and that this is part of the game. Don't be biased by something that happens to everyone.
Secondly you should review your play to check that you are not taking unnecessary risks (like going all in with KK in a hand where 3 people are already all in).
In short; understand that Poker is Poker. And don't take too many risks unnecessarily.

It sounds like you've developed a solid approach to managing the ups and downs of poker and life in general over your 20+ years in the game. Your emphasis on balance, playing within your means, and finding various outlets for stress relief, such as your boxing equipment and a glass of scotch, shows a thoughtful and adaptive mindset.

It's interesting how you've identified your enjoyment of MTTs, even though you acknowledge that focusing more on cash tables might be more profitable. Sometimes, the love for the game and the thrill of tournaments can outweigh strict financial considerations.

It's great that you've found what works for you and have a well-rounded perspective on poker and life. Do you have any specific goals or plans for your poker journey moving forward?

Getting better at the game is the best way to improve tilt. Realizing that tilting is having a negative effect on your play, will help you make cool headed decisions. If you are tilted then you make plays on emotion and not on positive EV or ICM. You want to give yourself the best advantage to win so removing tilt is key. I have seen great players loose their mind because they got one outed. Stay cool and in the long run your profit will increase!

In addition to Mental Game of Poker, i highly recommend the following books for meta/mental game considerations:

1-Elements of Poker by Tommy Angelo

2-The Tao of Poker by Larry W. Phillips

3-Zen and the Art of Poker by Larry W. Phillips

these books have definitely had a huge positive impact on my ability to deal with tilt.

rying not to tilt is very difficult. I haven't achieved it yet, but I'm working on it.
