OK, so I strike up a conversation with an older gent at the table. He's been around the block a few times and this is why I sometimes make it a point to talk to older gents at the table when I can to learn a thing or two. So I've been at the table a while and he asks me "did you know that card shuffler can arrange the cards as they had just come out of their box? He said they have a built in chip or mark in them that identifies what card it is. Wow No, I didn't know that. Thanks for telling me.

Then I'm thinking a while and ask well then if they can do that then can't they select what cards are dealt? Then the dealer chimes in and says "but we have to cut the cards after they come out of the shuffler." Then later on he asked "did you know that this casino cheats?" I said well what do you mean? The house always wins, right? He said no, before the casino opened, it had to present a contract to the state for a license. He said, in that contract it stipulates that the casino has the right to cheat. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Thanks.

I have a hard time believing it says they have a right to cheat. It may say they have a right to change the odds or can have some not be able to play because they are to good at a game. Which can be taking as cheating but it's really not cheating.

I do not think they have understood the contract well, but cheating is illegal anywhere in the world, when a casino loses reputation it also loses customers, I do not think the law allows it to cheat

I do not believe that in any license issued to casino it is written they are allowed to cheat. These documents can easily be requested at any time so i doubt that such thing is written in them. Maybe it is mentioned that they are allowed to shift odds in favor of them for pure gambling games and indeed in every game which you play against the casino odds are in favor of the casino. It is designed this way as otherwise casino would not be able to work. In poker when you play against other people they take their share via the rake.

In some situations when they have people that they know on the table it is possible that they cheat to shift your money towards their own people giving them better cards. I think that this is more likely to happen in a small casino than in a big one but i do not believe that they have the right to cheat you legally on poker.

casinos are generally places where morons lose their hard earned parasited labor value. The house edge is the cheating...it is suppose to be 0% EV for the house. They work off entertainment/food/memorabilia sales and the gambling draws in patrons. Though gamers are usually loser folks they take the abuse and keep coming back for more. You need to be a serious scam artist to beat the casino...or just not go...or just stick to hold em with a 3.5% rake or a per hand rake. Either way the business acumen says gamer types are wreckless and foolish with their money and hence are to be exploited. As far as the shuffler it sounds like a conspiracy theory. Yes the States licenses casinos to increase tax revenue they have to be careful not to cause to much damage or else the Taxpayer is going to pay for the poverty and crime caused by the town's Casino.

This is true:

Some shufflers can read cards. Hence the ability of this shuffler to "sort cards back to a suited deck"

That doesn't necessarily mean that anyone is cheating.

The house always cheats. They make the rules. The odds are always in their favor. You can't ever admit to using something the puts the player in favor, like card counting. So you can bet the house is always cheating you. As far as card shuffling, I haven't ever heard this but it wouldn't surprise me. But my question is what do they get for shuffling out cards a certain way. They rake the pot. Why do they care you wins or loses.

The old man is a kook. There isn't a contract that says the casino can cheat. Just make a mental note that this guy is an idiot and play more pots with him. My experience is that it is easier to win money against idiots.
