I love playing poker but I have some problems after winning some money at the freeroll when my future bankroll has to build step by step. The most important problem is discipline. I will try to explain and I hope maybe after the explanation anyone will give a good case of how to solve that.
First a little about myself, I don't a professional player of poker, and I don't use additional software ( I was trying but after a few attempts I have given up because didn't understand much), I read some books like "The mental game of poker", "Phil Gordon's Little Green Book", "The Theory of Poker: A Professional Poker Player Teaches You How To Think Like One".
I made the mistake of many beginners - I was engaged in multi-accounting, but about two years ago I corrected the mistake and blocked my additional accounts through the security services of every room where there were. Since then, I play only from one account. I play irregularly not every day. I don't have significant results, the biggest winnings were in the mpn poker network around 500-600 euros. Once in a while, there are successes in freerolls, I love playing general at partypoker and betkings poker.
Now the main thing is that after winning some money, I very often bet it on sports or play in the casino, sometimes it gives results (the biggest win is 2 thousand dollars), but most of the time it is a sure loss. I understand that this is a road to nowhere. I tried to solve it by blocking it for myself through the security service. It is also not a solution for me, because it is very easy to run away from the problem, and after a while, it can catch up again.
I want to become one of the players who understand a little more about poker than combinations, positions at the table, chances, etc. I want to stop being a noob and be somewhere between that and a professional player.
How can I improve my game and protect myself from casinos and sports betting? I would be glad to hear some rational suggestions.

P. S. Mistakes in the text are possible, I'm just learning English, it's not my native language.

The subject is difficult friend if you do not understand that the main problem is your behavior or discipline.
Building a bankroll for a poker player is not easy.
Don't worry, I have also done in previous times the same thing you did, but now for me that is an issue that has been overcome.
In truth, every player I've seen build a poker bankroll has done so solely by playing MTT and SGN. Where they have tried to play cash tables there the loss began.
For me you must understand that poker is a game of chance where not only luck influences, but also mathematics, strategy, the study of the game, the study of the opponents, the reading of the hands. In short, poker is not a roulette that you play black on 33 and it comes out and you win. Or a slot where the 777 came out and you win the big jackpot.
What do I want to tell you with this, that if you are going to spend time playing poker to invest the money earned in games of chance, it seems to me that it is a very bad choice dear friend.
The great poker players who have had the luck or the ability to win a lot of money in MTT, invest it in businesses, or companies, or in living better and logically continue playing poker.
In general if you read and search there are many stories of great poker players who have lost fortunes, even went bankrupt by spending their money on pleasures, cash tables, casino games or sports, horse racing and other pleasures.
It's like everything, if you take poker as a game that you enjoy, that you find attractive, and that you consider you have certain skills to progress and even take it as a serious job, the first thing you must have is discipline, as in many aspects of poker. daily life.
As advice, I suggest you ask yourself this question....Am I disciplined in my daily life???....There you may possibly find an answer.
There is a post that a friend put up that talked about this, as poker resembles our daily lives. If a person tells you that he is anxious to wait for hands or tournaments, surely in his daily life he will be anxious too. To cite just one example.
Greetings friend and good post. Thanks Charles:giggle::giggle::giggle:;););)

The main thing is not to play on credit and for the last money. Discipline must be cultivated. Good luck with your tempters.

Hi.
Lack of discipline is a very serious problem. It is difficult to be disciplined. But, if you have a clear goal and you are ready to work to achieve your dream, then make a detailed plan and step by step go to your goal. All you have to do is stick to the plan.
Good luck.

Mate, this feels like a bit of addiction to gambling, so not healthy. But the 1st step is aknowledging it. :) From what you say, you seem to have skills to play poker.

My advice to you is to try using the protection methods the softwares offer to control your impulses when going "irrational". And to look for a psychologist to work with you and support you in this process of controlling this better, if you can.

If you deal with this, you may have a lot of potential to play (and win) in poker in a healthy way. Good luck!
