Great question!
I prefer playing live versus online. The sounds of the chips being shuffled. Stacking them; when running good. The feel of the cards in my
hands. Conversations with other players around the table, are just some of the things make the game great. Now mind you, it isn't necessary to go to a casino to experience that, some home games can provide the same thing.
Funny story ... I was playing in a Stud Hi/Lo tournament a few years back. Game was progressing as usual. There was an opponent to my right who hadn't arrived yet. Thirty mins in, she shows up. Elderly lady with her purse that resembled a back pack, rings and bracelets all sparkling, and not a hair out of place.
She asks the table waitress for a tea and some toast. After the waitress takes her order, she looks over to me as says to me; "You look like an intelligent man. Would you care for a game of Trivial Pursuit?" I politely say; "Ma'am, I'm not sure if you know this or not, but you're in a Casino and this is a card tournament." She responds with; "I know that sweetheart, but I find that people don't talk at these things anymore. The smart ones love a game of Trivial Pursuit, and you don't look stupid to me."
Well, the table bursts out laughing ... and yes, I have to say that I did indeed play a side game of Trivial Pursuit in Stud Hi/Lo poker tournament. I didn't win the event, but I had a great time with Esther and the others at my table that day. Regrettably, Esther passed from COVID, but I'll never forget that interaction as long as I'm alive.
So, I guess that is the benefit of playing Live vs. Online .... People make the game fun and exciting.
