I prefer a tournament for lots of reasons. Knowing how much its going to cost me. Being able to put pressure on playes that can't just risk it and re-buy. I don't even know when you'd stop playing a cash game... unless you loose! a tournment has a neat finish, win or lose.

in tournament poker, I like the fact that at different stages of the game players play differently and in cash games more and more of the same type

I prefer tournaments, I think cash games are very tense and risky.

I choose poker tournaments because I like the concept of winning a significant amount of money. There are a lot more recreational players and
a softer field in MTTS than in cash games. The only drawback is that it takes a lot of time. Some competitions can last for eight hours or longer.
If your new to mtts, start with tournaments with cheap buy ins to gain experience and grow your bankroll. You can then adapt your strategy
after becoming familiar with the tournament's structure.

I definitely prefer tournaments. I do play the occasional cash game and do alright, but I really like the thrill and challenge of trying to make it to the end when so many people start :).

Hi,
I prefer tournaments by far. The battle for survival, the adrenaline of putting your tournament life at risk, the competition, the strategy.
I like cash games too, but it's not for me.

I prefer Tournament, cash game is dangerous for those who don't have control, which is not my case, tournament is more controlled the amount you bet, you already know what is at stake.

I used to play a lot of cash, mostly fast zoom. The bankroll jumped up and down .. Then I switched to mini spin and go tournaments and regular MTTs - it became easier to control my funds.

The cash games are the classic form of the game, which i prefer, espesialy zoom. At the cash games also it can be make a lot of money.

Regarding tournaments, I like them too, but they are slower and played differently than cash games, which is their charm, which I also like. Tournaments also make a lot of money, big money.

A bankroll is always required to play both cash games and tournaments.

The choice between cash games and tournaments ultimately depends on your personal preferences and goals as a poker player. Each format has its own advantages and considerations.

Cash Games:

  1. Flexibility: Cash games offer more flexibility than tournaments. You can join or leave a cash game at any time, play as long as you want, and choose the stakes that suit your bankroll.
  2. Skill Translation: Cash games provide a more consistent environment where skill plays a larger role. With deeper stacks and the ability to rebuy, you have more opportunities to make strategic decisions based on skill and exploit your opponents' weaknesses.
  3. Variance Management: Cash games have lower variance compared to tournaments since the chips in play represent actual money. This means you can experience less extreme swings in your bankroll.
Tournaments:

  1. Excitement and Potential for Big Wins: Tournaments offer the chance to win large sums of money with a relatively small buy-in. The allure of a big payday and the excitement of competing against a large field can be enticing for many players.
  2. Structured Play: Tournaments have set blind levels and increasing blinds, which creates a sense of urgency and strategic considerations. You'll need to adapt your play as the tournament progresses, including adjusting to different stack sizes, changing table dynamics, and the bubble stage.
  3. Prestige and Recognition: Tournament successes can bring recognition and prestige in the poker community. Winning or making deep runs in notable tournaments can enhance your reputation as a player.
Ultimately, you can choose to play both formats and see which one resonates with you the most. Some players prefer the consistency and skill-focused nature of cash games, while others enjoy the thrill and potential for big wins in tournaments. It's important to consider your bankroll, time commitment, skill level, and personal preferences when making a decision.

I've always preferred tournaments, I like that everyone starts with the same amount and everybody has one life at the tables. Although cash games is where all the real money is made.

I definitely prefer to play tournaments at 6-player tables. They are faster tables and I tend to play at medium levels.
