I find myself playing like that , i may have a problem in self control
it sucks but there's gotta be away, please let me know how you guys manage.:bike::bike::bike::bike::bike::bike:

It's sort of funny but, if you play online, the motto should be YOLO, however, if you actually play "real" poker.... Then it's a bit complicated. If you want to know how complicated it is, try to play a freeroll (if your site has it) of PotLimit Omaha. This is how you know you know how to play. It will scramble your brain nice and good. :)

On the playing until you are broke? Meh, it's all subjective. How much do you "care" about what you are betting? If I was betting my car or ... something "tangible" to my "life" and then losing it, you may have a serious gambleholic issue that may need addressing. JMHO

When you lose about 5 buy-ins, just stop and go for a walk. Then don't come back and play right away. Just play another hobby that you like, like go play some video games. Poker will still be there tomorrow.

Apparently this topic affects many people. Unfortunately, I have a similar problem, so it was good to read how others treat it.

Three little words you need to understand "Bank Roll Management"

For whatever stakes you play Ex. .01 /.02 Max buy in is generally 100bb so $2.00 You should have 20 buy ins to play these stakes to fade the variance. So $40 min. in your poker bankroll. If you don't have $40 play free rolls until you get $40 if you lose some buy ins and go under $40 go back to free rolls until you get properly rolled again.

For tournaments it should be more around 100 buy ins or some say 2% of your total bankroll so for a $2 buy in tournament you would need around $100 minimum in your bankroll.

People generally use cash games to fill the voids left behind from MTT's because even though the pay off's are higher you will go much longer lengths of time in between cashes.

Sticking too it will be the hard part it sounds for you. You have to have self control, and ignore the urges if you are wanting to fix this problem. That being said if you just want to have fun and learn until you become profitable, you can allow yourself a Budget of. X amount per week and once you lose that money don't play or deposit until your Budget allows. After you feel you have learned enough to start building try BRM.

BRM is generally for people who don't have an additional income and is there to avoid going busted in the long run since it's there only source of income. I'm going to quote something that someone sent me a few months ago that helped out as well it will be my next comment and it's from Spewster.

Wow, you really know what you are saying, I had no idea of these tips that you are giving so I thank you for taking them into account from now on, I usually also have game problems especially when I earn some money in freerolls, I I spend it all until I run out of nothing, I think it's also lack of discipline. Thanks ;)

Normally I set a limit and stop when it is gone. But that is only if the play is neither good or bad. If I am having a bad day with the cards I stop before my limit is reached. Why keep throwing away money if the cards are just not going your way. Take a break or come back the next day. You need discipline to control the urge to get your money back. Remember, money bet is gone, forget about it and do not let it affect your next hand, it is a new bet.

No, why do be self destructive? I play with a measure, watching the mats of the game. Generally you must know when to play and when to stop the game.

Do the exact opposite of what your doing. Play more when your winning and play less when your losing. Don't chase your lost money play tomorrow with a clear head.

Not many here would say yes to that question. Really not very good recipe for success. As many have suggested regarding BRM. Was something I knew nothing about prior to joining here. It changed the way I had looked at poker before learning about it.

I am not doing to bad lately even if it is penny's. Got a dollar not at all sites just choosing when to play for myself.

Hi MemphisGrind! I'm agree with You full on the All 100%,
that " Bankroll Management" is № 1! Everything else is secondary...
When you full concentration on the Game, instead of constantly checking
how much money is left in your account...:fight:

I look at the situation with the bankroll, if the card doesn’t play normally with me and I can’t win the cash game then I don’t play so as not to lose all the money, try to look after your bankroll and take less risk on bad cards and try to do less errors in the game, and if the card doesn’t go and you lose, it’s better to stop playing and try to play later after a break or make rest

it’s very difficult to cope, many times I bankered at 0! or went to the casino to recoup! but it doesn’t lead to anything good.

I am going to keep jamming my last $215 in to the sunday million no concern about it until win big and then practice bankroll management when there is actually something to manage:hahaha:

I read your above post and thought "yeah, that's so true, what's the point in managing a $5 bankroll, I'm gonna go for broke until I score a major bankroll, just like Hugh"... But then I remembered that I don't have $215 spare in the first place to jam into the Sunday Million! (Cue the violins!)

Seriously, I think bankroll management is a very good thing to learn and adhere to at any level, even if it's just as an exercise in discipline - maybe being disciplined with our bankrolls might have a knock-on effect, encouraging us to make discipline folds, etc, rather than chasing thin value... But, like I confessed in my first ever post when I joined this forum, I had great BRM until the day I tilted it all away, down to the felt, in only a couple of hours... so it's like the old saying goes: "Do what I say, not what I do!"
