I do not play poker on vacations. Vacations are family time, mental rest, long naps, reading a good book, taking a tour of some place I've never seen before, maybe finding a really good place to eat something new. Cruises are a great way to do this for me and my family.
Though I am anything but a poker pro, I treat trips to Vegas, Biloxi, or some other busy poker room as a job. I'm there for business. My time is planned around being a winning player.
I exercise in the morning in the gym, enjoy a swim, and then reward myself with a steam, sauna, hot tub, reading a fun book in a lounge chair until I've cooled off enough to enjoy a second round of steaming.
Then I go and play till mid afternoon hunger grabs me, eat a nice meal away from the table, take a long walk, and then back to the table till hungry again. I do not eat at the table unless it is just a quick small snack, because I lose focus and don't enjoy the meal.
If I play in Vegas for 4 or 5 days, then I'll take a day off, away from the table and do some sight seeing, see a show, attend a gun school out in the desert, or whatever just for a day or two long mental break. Then play another several days until it is time to go home.
