OMG!! Celebrity poker,,, what a shame , when i first heard about it i thought hmmm... maybe something to watch, but when i tuned in, it was terrible, more like a bitching match than a poker game, dont think ill ever watch that again..

celebrity poker is just there for entertainment. I think it does a good job of entertaining the public.

I hate watching that show because basically 99% of the time they have no idea what the hell they are doing.

Remember that celeb. poker is basicly for entertainment. I was playing in Tunica last November when Justin Timberlake and his famous girlfriend came in and played $4/$8 limit holdem. The security guards at the Horseshoe said they were there for some practice because they were gonna be on celebrity poker. They played all night losing quite a bit but I never saw them on the show.

I enjoy Celebrity Poker. Phil Gordon and Dave Foley are good together, and the celebrities who play are usually pretty entertaining. Not the greatest poker you'll ever see, of course, but Phil will offer some solid poker advice if you're paying attention and Foley's just a nut. On the other end of the spectrum is the new Hollywood Poker, where B & C level celebs get together in a setting like somebody's basement den. Horrible.

Celebrity poker

Hi all,
I would say James Woods is one of the better celebrity poker players, I believe he either owns or part owns hollywood poker, I downloaded their software 3 times but can't get it to run on my pc, their email support is excellent but they couldn't help me out either, if I want to play there then I have to use the no download version which I haven't tried yet.
I too believe that from what i've seen most of them should stick to acting, mind you they can afford to lose a few grand here and there, they probably do it for extra exposure. ( bound to be a few comments on that remark, lol )

I have only watched one complete show and it happened to be the one with Woods, caught a few minutes of a couple of others but couldn't stand to finish watching. Yes it is for entertainment value-but alas it's not a show for me

James woods and his brother michael are both great to play and chat with. The online version is great to play on at hollywood. I couldn't get the download version to work to well either.

I cant even watch celebertiy poker, It just drives me up a wall. although I dont watch alot the wpt all much either because of the commetating. I think mike sexton and that other guy over dramatize every thing. They act like every hand is a tournment changing hand.

that's true about the commentating, especially when someone gets pocket aces, they say "oh wow... so and so has the monster hand to win this round" I don't know how they can say this before the flop even comes out, I can't count the times I have had pocket aces and lost to three 2's or something similar LOL

Agreed, thought these celebs might know a think or two but quickly realize its for charity so they don't really care. It's just a comped weekend in Vegas for them. David Cross and James Woods do seem to have a bit of smarts in them. The rest could be flushed down the toilet.

hate it

i personally can't stand celebrity poker, since they are usually playing for charities they aren't even using their own money. not like they don't have any to spare.

Dave foley's class, just the way him and phil mock each other and the players all the time is brilliant. There are a few good celeb players but most dont even know if they've won or lost a hand and cant play a hand to save their life.

The landscape on television poker is getting so crowded now that one show just blurs into the next. I can't really differentiate between the newer shows that are popping up on the minor cable networks. I got a kick out of one I was watching the other day. Mike Matusow was the guest color commentator and Chad Brown (that pretty boy former soap actor who did well in the 7-stud event at last year's wsop) is the weekly anchor. I couldn't tell which was worse, the commentary or the playing.

Pretty Boy asked Matusow what he considered to be the "defining moment" of his career. The Mouth said that it was going heads-up with Daniel Negreanu in the Omaha Hi/Lo at the 2002 National Poker Championships. I would have thought it was breaking down into sobbing tears at the 2004 WSOP when Raymer busted his ass out. Now THAT was classic Mike!
