My favorite poker scene is in the movie Casino Royale. The scene where James Bond beat Le Chieffre and gets all the money in the table :) This is the scene started my interest in to poker. What is favorite movie poker scene?

It was one of my favourite Bond movies, but on reflection the poker was gawd-awful...

...which reminds me, I've been meaning to re-write the script to the poker scenes and post it here, I think there's improvements that could've been made to the dialogue, if not the actual card playing :D

I thought the modern Casino Royale wasn't too bad as far as Bond films go. I would like to have seen it stay true to the book and be baccarat, but oh well. I actually thought the poker play was pretty lame.

Yeah, I'll play a really high stakes game with 7-(something) suited.

By the way, to appreciate the modern one, rent the original with David Niven in it.

casino royale was an awesome movie. the poker scenes are very exaggerated, but then again, its james bond. the best scene involves bond winning the other dudes car and then snatches his lady... rounders is also excellent... my roommate knows everything about every bond movie in the world so ive been exposed.... any takers think they know more than him?!?!

A few questions that ought to be asked about the $150 million poker game in Casino Royale:

- What's with Bond getting all butthurt about going broke the first time? FFS man, you lost to quads! You're supposed to go broke there!

- What's with the pot total at the end?!? I'm doing this from memory, but (from memory) Matthias says "there's 20 million in the pot" on the flop. By the time the two short stacks get it all in for about five or six more, then Bond goes all in with his miracle straight flush for about... what, 40 million? I just can't make it add up to $150 million.

So... surely somebody should've been running down the hall shouting "Misseur Le Chiffre! Misseur Le Chiffre! You've still got chips left!" :p

It's $115 million not $150.

$24 (already in pot) + $6 (first all in) + $5 (second all in) + $40.5 (bond all in) + the call

Well there not movies but love the dads poker nights with his black mates in Malcom in the middle.

Also Heros great scene where Hiro swaps the cards around when playing the texan.

This is for the english we have a soap called eastenders (dull and depressing), but someone usally wins the pub or loses it every few years in a utter unbelievable game of poker.

As a Bond movie? Definitely. Unless you like your Bonds campy, like Roger Moore.

As a poker movie? Nah, not really.

As for the $115 million... OK, that makes more sense. So Le Chiffre only had $39.5 million in front of him?

Even if that's the case though, I still wanna know why they let him string bet through the whole game :p

Favorite scene: Shade, when the much talked about "Dean" played by Stallone finally sits at the table.

Casino Royale is the best bond movie since Connery if nothing else. Favorite scene in that movie is when Bond loses all his chips to Le Chiffre and decides to kill him with a dinner knife, right before Lighter gives him re-buy money.

It would've made a much better film had it NOT been a Bond film. Not to mention the Parkour plug in the beginning was just stupid.

I hated how they portrayed skill in the game. It seemed very amateur and cheesy.

I like the line "That last hand nearly killed me..." after he is poisoned.

Casino Royale was easily the best Bond movie but I wasn't impressed with the poker either.

Well done, Bond, you have a straight flush.
Well done, Bond, you hit trips on the river.

Those aren't talented poker plays. That's just luck.

You know, I never really thought about casino royale as a poker movie. The scenes were pretty campy, but they had to make sure grandpa who plays limit 5-card draw still understands. They should have played baccarat.

I personally think it was an absolutely awesome movie. It was very close to the book in tone, which gave it props in my eyes. As a James Bond freak, I think it may be the best one since From Russia.
