After ChuckTs recommended that I try the Harrington tournament books, I looked at a few of my usual options:
  • I did a search on Kelkoo, which brought up two book retailers at about £26 each
  • did an eBay search, which gave me either new ones for about £18 delivered, or second hand for about half that, by the time you include delivery, but no guarantee of what price you would win the auction at (or if you would win the auction)
  • looked on Amazon, who could do them new for £9.38 + £2.75 P+P = £12.13 delivered
The thing that seemed odd to me was that the Marketplace retailers that were the cheapest were actually shipping these books all the way from the USA! How can it make sense that the cheapest way to buy a book in the UK is to buy it from someone that is in the US, and is going to use UPS or a similar courier to deliver it to you in the UK?

Anyway, what I really started this thread to discuss was - do any of you know places where these books can be obtained at very good prices, please, or is Amazon generally accepted to be the cheapest?

I don't mind it being second-hand, but I'm not going to go rummaging through endless car boot sales or household goods auctions trying to find it... :D

The lack of response makes me wonder which one(s) of the following options might apply:
  1. I'm the only forumer here from the UK
  2. I have done such a great job of tracking down and analysing the available prices that nobody can suggest a cheaper way of purchasing these books, amazon.co.uk is the best option available and it doesn't matter that it's sent all the way from USA by courier
  3. You don't care how much you pay for a book this good, so you'll just pay whatever it takes to have the book in your hands as quickly as possible, and write it off as an investment against the millions that it will help you make from poker
  4. Nobody in the UK buys books to help them improve their poker
Or perhaps there are some other options that I have overlooked? :)

I can't really help, because all of my literature I've either got from Stars FPP store, Amazon, or Waterstones (which is iirc just as pricey if not more so than Amazon).

Amazon is usually your best option, in my experience.

I also don`t understand why it is cheaper if one of their associates ships from Hong Kong or California or somewhere. Seems illogical, as you say. I guess it must be something to do with taxes ?

Yes, I think they were one of the retailers that came up on Kelkoo, the most expensive option of all...
I'm gonna order Harrington on cash games from there
JD suggested that they will be available to order from amazon.co.uk
