In a live tourney I was in where players were the dealers a guys deals out the cards to the players and the when he dealt the flop the 6d came out but he did not burn so he put the 6d back shuffled the deck burnt a card and the first card on the flop was the 6d. On the river he doesnt burn a card shows 2h as the river he then puts the 2h back in deck shuffles burns a card and you guessed it the river is the 2h. It was amazing to me. Has anyone seen anything similar to this before?

Nope. But I wouldn't play with that guy any more. Or at least make sure when he shuffles someone cuts.

If he didnt burn a card and the first card was 6d, then that card would actually be the burn card, he should have never put it back and shuffled the dark, just set that card aside, and flip over the next one. thats the way a lot of casinos do it that if a dealer forgets to burn a card like say before the river, then the card showing would be the burn card and flip over the next one

I don't understand why he would shuffle. In our game, if the burn card is accidentally shown, we make sure everyone at the table is aware of what it is, then toss it in the muck, and deal the next card as normal.

LOL - I'm guessing it was an APL / NPL tournament?

I deal for a job. So self-dealt tourneys put me on life tilt, and stuff like is just one of the reasons why.

If you're retarded enough to forget to burn a card, you need to take out the card that was supposed to be burned, make sure the entire table has seen it so everyone's got the same information (and knows how stupid you are), then use it as the burn card and put the next card in the deck onto the board, where it was meant to be in the first place.

You don't reshuffle the deck - you just correct the mistake. For one it's faster and for two it avoids any arguments over "Oh but I would've won if the deck hadn't been reshuffled blah blah blah".

In fact the only time you're supposed to reshuffle in the middle of a hand is if you're playing draw and you physically run out of cards for the drawing round, in which case you reshuffle the folded hands and use those.

As to how the same card managed to get reshuffled then dealt twice... I dunno. Was the guy (or one of his friends) actually in the hand and if so, did the cards help him? If so I'd definitely be suspicious: it's certainly possible for people to execute false shuffles and placing one specific card back on the top of the deck is probably the easiest one to do. I think even I could manage it.

It's also possible it's just one of those crazy coincidences.

Point is though, he should never have reshuffled in the first place.

Yeah the only reason the deck gets reshuffled is if a card is shown that's not supposed to be and the dealer spills the cards and loses them somehow. For instance the dealer shows the turn/river before everyone has had a chance to act. That's the only time I've ever seen them reshuffle...

Wow - this happened in a casino?

Don't think I've ever managed that. If I did... I dunno. I'd probably just invoke "Oh shit misdeal" and cancel the hand - the whole thing would too messed up to continue with.

Live you are supposed to take the 6d that was supposed to be the burn card, show everyone what card was exposed, burn it and deal the next card up. Same for river.

Like others said, do not play with that again. Never seen it, he's obviously cheating.

I like how everyone is saying not to play with this guy again... it's a tourney, he can't pick his seats!

Anyone know the odds of that happening.

Just a freaky coincidence.

Did you place in the tourney?

Yeah only time I've ever seen it is if the dealer puts the turn/river down before betting is finished. Can't call it misdeal because money is already in the pot. Only thing you can do is reshuffle what's left of the deck and redo it. Usually ends up whoevers in just checks it down so it usually kills the hand anyway.
