Which is preferable, being a cash game poker player and playing for exactly 6 hours or being a tournament player and not having a defined playing time?
If I would live by Poker, surely tournaments.

It really depends of who you are, what you like and type of variance you accept. I personalty pick tournaments. Why? I prefer the competitiveness of trying to win the game is more important than the money for me.

Cash is less variance over tournaments but tournaments you can win tons quickly in but also not win a cent over 30 40 buy ins is not lucky.

Personally I say play what variant you enjoy most.

As always with poker, it depends. It depends on your style, on your goals, on your personality... You should decide for yourself... Play both for a while and then you will find the answer.

I like how you can Jump in and out of cash games. So for convenience of schedule I would go to Cash but I do better in tourney play

Hi Mediego

My goal is to play more MTT and learn to do well in them. My first goal is to start min cashing consistently. Once I've achieved that goal, I'll start trying to win them. Trying to win means taking on a lot more variance and will result in a lot more busts.

In the meantime, I'm working on my cash game skills as these will transfer over to tournaments plus cash games are easier to schedule.

Well it depends on your game style and bankroll management. I personnaly prefer playing MTTs because we all start with the same stack and I can not lose more than my buy-in. I don't like cash game at all.

I like the cash game. Fast result. But I won more in tournaments. Paradox. It all depends on the goal that the player sets.

A cash game player can choose his game strategy on his own and change as necessary in accordance with his preferences and skills. The player may bluff frequently, play aggressively or passively, etc. But the strategy in the tournament closer to its end must necessarily undergo changes (compared to the early stages of the tournament). The player is forced to play more aggressively, otherwise the mandatory bets will “eat up” all his chips before the player waits for a strong card and takes part in the distribution.

Hello.
I prefer tournaments. According to my statistics, cash games are unprofitable for me, and tournaments make me money.
Maybe it's because I mostly play freerolls :)
Good luck.

Yes, you better play what you like I think over time you will find the answer for yourself it will be cash tournaments you will play less often than tournaments it's cool stuff people play more tournaments so they're exciting

I think it depends of how much time you have available to play. I remember that when I was in college I didn't had much time to play, so, on weekends I had time to play tournaments, but on week days I could only play 1-2 hours maximu, so, cash games were the only option. Nowadays I have time to play, so, I prefer the tournaments option.

It depends on what you want, if you want to be a player with a higher financial return mtt is the best option, but for that you will have to dedicate a lot, many hours a day. If you are looking to have less time to dedicate yourself to poker, the cash game is definitely the best option! But in both cases your dedication is the most important thing, because poker is a sport that is always evolving and you can't stop in time, you always have to try to evolve, and have a lot of discipline.
