I don’t think that smoking directly affects the results of your game, but it definitely has a negative effect on your health!!!
Unless you need to sit out during a live tournament for a cigarette break! Could sit out on AA.

Hello everyone. It's a good topic, and I also smoke. So far, in over 20 years, I haven't felt any problems. I know that there is nothing good about this habit, but I won't give it up. I have read all the comments, and I have liked some of them only because I share the opinions of those people. I think I will have more difficulties if I decide to quit smoking - first, I need to deal with that, and then with its impact on my game. And the most important rule for me is that this habit doesn't control me; I control it. Good luck to everyone!

Think of the money you would save if you quit - not to mention the years you would add to your life. I know it is easier said than done but I also know plenty of people who have quit successfully. My husband smoked for about 15 years and quit. Fortunately before I met him because I would have never married a smoker again.
I smoked for over 40 Years, and when I decided I wanted to quit, I went to a Therapist to try "Zyban" which had to be prescribed, before she would give me a prescription we talked for about an hour about my habit and one question I had was, would quitting smoking effect my poker game?
As I believed that Smoking helped me to Concentrate, She took me through a couple of stages asking me about why It couldn't possibly effect my game and the first game I played after quitting for over a week, I won easily.
Smoking gives you nothing except the chance of dying prematurely from ill health or Cancer. I quit and after 2 years My health was better for it and my bank balance was a damned site better for it I regularly had a monthly Balance of around £2,000 after paying out all my bills etc, After 2 years of being an Ex-smoker my Bank balance was over £10,000. Recently I was called to my local Branch to discuss my balance as I had over £40,000 in my current Account and they were afraid it was too much to keep in my Current Account earning nothing.
So I transferred £30,000 into a high interest Account and it is earning me about 3% in Interest, Not a lot, but a lot more than it was earning me 12 months ago. I have been off the cigarettes for almost 10 years now. The best move I ever made.

!!!!!! QUIT THIS SHIT ASAP !!!!!!!!

(sorry for the vulgarity)

Don't think like that!!!!, Smoking doesn't affect your bankroll, it affects your health.

I smoked for 25 years, and I quit within 0.000001 seconds after the doctor told me I had lung cancer.

Do I regret the money I spent on smoking??? the answer is definitely NO (that's not the point)

the point is:
1) I regret the health I lost,
2) I regret the agony of radiochemotherapy
3) I regret not waiting for my children to grow up
4) I regret that I probably won't be a grandfather (I won't live to see it)
5) I regret that I ever started smoking

@Dejange recommends IQOS because they are supposedly healthier (sorry, that's bullshit) I have only smoked IQOS for the last 4 years and it didn't change the fact that I got cancer about 1.5 years ago

I repeat
!!!!!! QUIT THIS SHIT ASAP !!!!!!!!

Thing is there are easier ways to get your clothes to stink & developing tha charming, hacking, lung wracking cough that is so cool can also be done without spending all that money.
This money, if it were put into savings, would make me stop trying Cardschat freerolls 😆🤭🤭
How would our lives be lived if we were very strict in everything we do? Would your goals make up for the lack of a hectic life sometimes? or maybe now we are collecting for a later life where shall we enjoy all that we have collected?
Everyone has to make sure they live a decent life and leave a legacy they're not ashamed of, otherwise why not feel the way we want?

True that's why I don't 😆
But I know as soon as I will have children, I will stop immediately

Don't get me wrong

Don't lie to yourself, I lied to myself exactly the same way. My first daughter was born and I continued to smoke, my second daughter was born and I continued to smoke. I only stopped smoking when it was too late

You know, I'm ready to tell everyone that smoking is harmful. I'm ready to tell everyone that it's not worth starting. I regret that I started smoking.

But, you must agree, we are all adults and we know perfectly well that this is harmful to our health. Smoking causes dependence: physical, psychological. And until a person wants to quit smoking, this will not happen.

So what's the point of saying: you should quit smoking now? It is unlikely that people will listen to the advice of an unfamiliar person from the Internet. In most cases, people will not listen to the advice of the closest people. It just seems to me that we are moving further away from the original theme of the author.

Personally, I fully support everyone and everyone who does not smoke and who says that smoking is a poison that kills us from the inside and harms others. I am proud of every person who has quit smoking.
Nevertheless, despite the fact that I have thought about stopping smoking many times - I do not and will not do it, because I like smoking as a process. In addition, I realize that I will not die from this and smoking or smoking-related diseases will not be the cause of my death.
So I don't want to deprive myself of this little joy.
I just try to make sure that my addiction does not cause inconvenience to others.🤷‍♀️

I tried quitting this year, lasted 5 months. I started smoking again not because i was still addicted but because i missed playing poker with my glass of whisky and a smoke. That was the 1st time i had ever tried in 30yrs and do intend on trying again eventually. I have found its best not to set a deadline for starting as it puts extra pressure on yourself at a time that is going to be very stressful in the first place.
My son know theres no value in smoking and not to even look at the crack-nicotine (vape) that they are replacing it with.
I advise everyone to not vape. Its basically crack from of nicotine.

You are looking for external stimuli, a smoker or not, he can win and lose like anyone else. By smoking, you destroy your health and in return you get a temporary improvement in your mood, which is caused by hunger, as in any addiction.

Smoking is harmful not only to the smoker himself, but also to those around him. The blood carries toxic substances to all parts of the body and body systems, causing addiction and subsequent health problems.

I do think it affects your performance because combined with the long hours needed to play you get tired faster thus you will make bad decision .

I've been smoking for 10 years sincerely I see that I spend a lot on cigarettes and it reduces my performance has evolved from one I always find myself tight in my bankroll plus I can't play solid during tournaments I can no longer find the patience to reach the paid places.
I don't see the point of cigarettes at all. Yes, I used to smoke cigarettes too, but I stopped smoking a long time ago. It is the most useless pleasure among all negatively affecting the body. And I think drinking green tea is much better and healthier than smoking cigarettes.(y):coffee:

direct smoking will not affect your poker game, but your health will affect and your health will directly affect everyone around you, including poker. So smoking is always harmful, it's better not to smoke and exercise longer and live healthy

I dont think anyone really needs educated on the fact of smoking being bad for us. Tobacco is bad and i am really glad this generation is mostly avoiding it.
Personally i have no issues with people smoking.
I know more people who have had cancer or have health problems that dont smoke or have never smoked, than people who do smoke. Im not saying this is the same for other people. Smoking has been on decrease for the last 20yrs but health issues are not really decreasing.
There are plenty of other things we expose ourselves to that are harmful to us. What we eat is not very good and full of added things that aren't good for us. Even walking down the street is full of exposure. We don't fully understand what all signals being emitted everywhere are doing to us and we are more than happy to expose ourselves to them.
The world is going to become very boring place if all things that makes you happy or content are disallowed or frowned upon.
I stopped going to the pub not long after smoking indoors was banned. The liveliness disappeared and you ended up with people standing outside in an awkward silence. There has probably been a massive increase in depression, as a lot of heavy drinkers who smoke and lonely people who smoke disappeared into there own homes, no longer socialising with people as much. Due to the decreasing number of patrons pubs in my area had to increase prices and most eventually closed doors.
Sorry for the rant, was not intended.
Top and bottom, smoking not good. (But not evil)
