Hi guys!

Do you remember anything funny in your poker journey, when you misunderstood some rule, some game variant or just had some misconception about the gameplay?

Mine is that when I first encountered spin-n-goes, the description by pokerstars about what a spin-n-go is was going along the lines: "... it's a three-handed game..." And I understood it not like it's a game for three players, but as this game is played in three hands and that's it 😝🤦🏼‍♀️😆

So I always tried to win the first hand postflop no matter what, and if I failed to do so, I would go all-in in the second hand with any holdings I had (and always lost, of course😅). After a few games, when I finally managed to pass the unbeatable barrier of the first three hands, I was very surprised to find out that the game didn't stop after them 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Do you have a similar story?

It doesn't relate to a rule, but I remember having the misconception that poker pros run more massive bluffs than they actually do. While pros do bluff a decent amount, it's not like they're punting off their stack every other hand. Hope that makes sense. Haha!

Hi everyone! When I started studying the game, especially starting hands, I thought that if you got pocket AA (rockets), it was a 100% win. But later, when I came to chances, acts and other nuances, I was unpleasantly surprised that there were not so many chances to win with AA against the same KK.:)

it's somehow a mystery because how much can you lose with a special hand against a bad one or the dealer is not joking

When I saw a pair of AA in my hands, I always thought I always win and this is a 100% win and no hand hits me then I didn't know poker combinations yet and thought this was the oldest pair and all that was enough for me but I was so wrong because I knew very little about poker at the time and didn't study it

Hello friend @ iwont20 your post is very funny.:p:p:p:p:p

Well, in my beginnings I played 5 card draw which is known as 5 card poker or draw poker. I always played it at unibet poker, until I started to play or learn Holdem.

I studied the main rules, everything was going pretty well. Until in a hand in an MTT that was going very well, it turned out that in the showdown there was a 4 Quads 5555 and a 7 on the river. Villain goes allin to me, and if I remember correctly I had 1010 in hand, and I looked at my hand and said to myself "4 quads is a draw"!!! so I called the allin, and it was to my dismay when I saw that villain had AK and all the chips went to his place hahahahahaha.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Well that's where I started to see and if the hand of 4 quads won the one with the highest card in this case 5555A against my 555510.

From now on it was not funny at all, but later with the passage of time I laughed at such an unfortunate hand.

It also happened to me when I started playing Omaha, in one hand I thought that your two cards in hand were worth the whole showdown and not just 3 cards from the table. I was also very confident to call my Ace high flush, and I see that another had beaten me with a flush with 47s in his hands, he wanted me to die hahahahaha:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:
There I also discovered that the 2 cards in your hand should make the flush.

Well those are my funny anecdotes of the game

Greetings friend:giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle:

I thought poker was going to be non stop nail biting action with everything coming to a crescendo at the river! I soon found out that most of the play can be pretty dull stuff punctuated with a few dazzling moments!

When I started playing poker I didn't know what a Kicker was, when other players won a hand for having a better Kicker I didn't understand and I got irritated and at the same time not knowing what happened.

Some time after watching some poker videos on Youtube I came to understand what Kicker was all about.

One thing is certain at the time, I was angry with this Kicker, that if I caught this guy😡😁🤣🤣

When I first started I thought the best position to play from in NLHE was the SB... You got to go first after the flop! What could be better than that?

I remember occasionally other players would write in the chat (just after a hand I'd won) "And he was out of position that hand". I always thought they were talking about someone else. I mean I had the best position... I got to go first! And did I ever make the best of it... with a big Pot-sized bet, followed by another on the turn and another on the river if they hadn't folded yet. I remember on the times it did get to the river and there I was firing out another POT-sized bet, chanting to myself over & over "Please fold. Please fold! PLEASE FOLD!!!!!!!!!!!" I played it the same way for strong hands, medium-strength hand and for hands where I had nothing at all. And the board texture made absolutely no difference at all.

fwiw, I actually placed 2nd of ~900 entrants in the very first tournament I ever played (on Fulltilt, a buyin tournament) using that very style of play, lol.

Yes, at the beginning of my game, I played the all-in-or-fold mode and just thought it was a casino, not poker, then I found other modes and started playing

😂😂😂 Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

Well, how did I feel? I thought that the player with the most chips will get the prize, so I was ready to be declared the winner. And it didn't happen. The game proceeds and I'm like "WTH??! What's going on? OMG Who do I write to? Mistake happened!! How do I document this?" 🤣🤣😅 So, obviously, I pretty much wasn't playing anymore after those three hands in that game, I was just trying to keep that table open while I was wondering around the client, thinking how do I prove there were more than 3 hands 😂😂😂

Then I saw that you can observe other spin-n-gos, and I opened one to see what was going there, and nothing happened there too after I counted three hands. So I was like "it's must be a global glitch, they'll figure it out". After a few days when no one sent me an apology letter, I tried to play one again, and again there were more than three hands both in my game and in the games I observed. So I watched one till the end to see how the winner is actually declared, and after all of this I figured out what three-handed means 😭😆😆😆

In my defense, I was sort of new to poker and didn't know much about the terminology and overall what's possible there and what's not 😄

Funnily enough, while I was writing the initial post I wanted to quote the exact Pokerstars description, but they've changed it from three-handed to three player tournament. So maybe I wasn't the only one who misunderstood it, but others did reach the point of contacting the support 😄😅

Dear iwont20,
On Saturday April 1st, our software had a major malfunction. The Spin & Go games got away from us. It seems an artificial intelligence bug decided it would like to see some 'extra' hands in the Spin & Go games.

We'd like to apologize on behalf of those other two players who chose to continue playing the game after it was obviously completed... they will be reprimanded accordingly and we will be awarding you with the prize pool that is rightfully your's!

Rest assured we will do our utmost to see that something like this will never happen again!

Thank-you for your patience & understanding,

I didn't understand what a position is and why some players have to act before others. I thought it happened randomly.:)

At the beginning of my poker career, I used to confuse combinations and didn't understand how my two pairs lost to an incomprehensible set of cards. And then it turned out that the street was closed, and I didn't understand it right away. I thought there was a mistake. That they're trying to fool me. But then, after reviewing my hand, counting the cards correctly, I realized that I was wrong. This is the story that happened to me.

Emotions cannot be completely excluded from your mind, and the combination of high variance and significant losses for the player ultimately gives rise to incorrect ideas about the game as a whole.
