When I was in high school, I discovered cash games through online poker. I didn't have a credit card yet, so I asked my parents to act as my deposit and withdrawal agents. But my parents wouldn't allow me to play poker, saying that "gambling at poker can ruin you. Would you allow your child to play cash games?

Until 18 years old, a child must study, occupy their minds in a different way.

I have no children, although I am over 50 years old. I played cards even before I went to school. But in general, I am against children playing cards. I do not think that cards can negatively affect the further development of a person, but I believe that children have more important things to do than playing card games.

No, high school children, not because in my opinion we generate a vice and a dependency, it would be better for 'older people or people 18+, so I think they would take things more seriously and not for fun, well if they want to dedicate themselves to that

Ask yourself whether you would like your child to start the game with all its negative effects and how it will affect the future. The game of an adult who consciously allows himself to take often excessive risks and the possible loss of a certain amount of money is one thing, and the game of a young person who shapes his psyche is another thing. Poker, apart from being fun and a hobby, is also gambling, and it has long been known that it is easier for mentally weaker people to fall into an addiction that ruins their lives. No one can predict how your life will turn out as a player, so your parents are right to wait. If you are able to wait, it will mean that you are stable and you will not play at any cost in the future.

The child is learning a lot and not soaring in the clouds about big winnings. Poker is not romanticism, but hard money. +21, or even +30, I would allow you to play this game.

I don't have children, but I would probably would not let them play cash games. I'm not against teach them how to play poker before 18, but I think that to play with real money you should be older than 18 years.

I myself started playing micro stakes cash poker (dealer's choice) when I was a pre teen and my father was cool with it, even showed me some strategy. He also let me smoke. That being said, I would be completely against my grandsons playing online poker for money. Children are much more vulnerable now and there are many dangerous people lurking online.

Learn to play poker or similar games, if they are interested, sure. Assist them in playing online, no. Other than helping to instill in them that they are special & the law does not apply to them what would one be gaining?

Both my children 17 and 14 play poker as does my card shark 10 year old niece. I have been the main teacher of all three of them in the game. I also taught them this game is for entertainment and have told them how hard a game it is to win.

All this said, I would not allow them to have a account at under 18 I support. Once 18 I would be OK with there playing for the fun of it. This said my daughter wont probably ever play until she turns 21. I promised her many years ago I would take her to Vegas on her 21st birthday and we could play some poker together. My son like the game more than my daughter but thankfully has not found the love of the game. My niece on the other hand has fallen for the game. This is the one I worry about when the times come. She is also one sick little player and loved to raise and show some bluffs. LOL Teaching them the game has been good for them all but introducing and supporting them as underage players, No way.

For starters, I would definitely do it after the child reaches 18+ after I would advise him to just play a poker game where they don't play for money, and if he likes playing just without money, it's cool, but if he says I love playing for real money, I would tell him to only play free tournaments and if he wins there, let him spend the money anywhere but so as not to invest there that's all

I would not act as a child's "deposit and withdrawal agent"??.. first of all that's illegal, second of all what are you teaching your child by doing that sort of thing?, grow up, graduate high school, get your own money then you can play whatever you like👍

I wouldn't encourage anyone to play cash games without their own source of income. Gambling is not a good habit if you cannot support it.

We must respect the law: children should never gamble, period.

Interesting question.

I wouldn't allow it for several reasons.
1) A young person should engage in learning and acquiring knowledge in order to find a good job for himself,
2) poker, like any game, can be addictive if a person cannot separate his or her private life from "fun/passion/interest", which can be destructive in the long run
3) the life of a professional poker player shown in movies is completely different from real life
4) to be a professional poker player you need to have a very strong mindset. (mature mind -I don't know if I translated it correctly)
5) just like in poker you should use bankroll management, in life you must use bankroll management (risk only as much as you can lose so that it does not affect your life), if you do not have your own income you should not risk real money on gambling (no matter whether you play EV+ with a lot of knowledge or EV- with no knowledge)

Legally the answer is no.

Legalities aside, what's this about poker being addicting? It's about as addicting as playing engaging video games or watching interesting TV shows, but many parents just don't want to deal with that issue until it becomes unmanageable.

Everyone's going to have to learn how to deal with addiction at some point or get their life wrecked. Poker is just one possible source of addiction.

Hello, I totally agree that children should not play at such a young age. I think they can play after 18 years old.

I am against children playing cards. Poker is a cool game, interesting and developing, but it is for those who are over 18 years old.

Better to wait for them to come of age, and also pay for their game! Another point would be that registrations and accounts are only allowed for people over 18!
