There really is no way to know when is the best time to walk away. But at some point you have to, so if you can set a limit of some sort why not? And go with it.

I think if the game/table is good then you should play as long as you can maintain your A game. That will differ from player to player, but any time you start feel a bit tilted or off in any way, I think taking a break and coming back is always good. If you already set yourself a limit than you should stick to it, or you might be tilting yourself by not following on your plan :)

Fully agree. You should always play if you feel you have an edge and play your A game. It’s not a matter of being up or down. When you are in good state of mind and feel confident, just keep on playing. If you have doubts about one of the two, you should quit.

if there is someone to get money from, you need to play, tomorrow there may no longer be such an opportunity

I honestly play to win, so if I'm up alot and there's another big stack, I'm trying to win his entire stack. But if I'm up alot and there's no other big stacks at the table, then I'll call it a night.

I think we should leave after a good win. When you stay, you lose.If there is desire to play the better change the table.

With more money than you started with

If you sit down with 300 bucks and have 500 20 min later leave!! The good game theory is bs and only means it's a nice table with good social interaction and people are betting right and the game is fun. Even if you can double triple and the opponents might be bad and have a weak chance you are still dealing with a deck of cards and luck! The only exception is a game like this whee you feel confident and have been hovering around even for hours then keep at it. I will say occasionally maybe 2-10 of these type of sessions stay even if your up 300 the game is weak, your on fire the brain is going fast and why not gamble especially if you have been winning of late. On the average though leave with more money x your bankroll in the 35 to 50% range regardless of time.

For me it is fairly easy to walk away. I watch others that will not and get very upset because they are looking. During the whole time they have not changed up there game. They keep playing the same way hoping something will change, pretty sure that is the clinical definition of insanity. Look the game is not going to change for you, you have to adjust to the game and or situation. If it is just not your day, walk away, at least you tried.

For me, this is the hardest part of poker, leaving the table. If I win I can't stand up, if I lose I can't stand up

I play as long as I feel like the game is profitable. Sometimes I'll set a hand limit I want to reach such as 500-1000 hands and quit when I get to that point.

Hello, Ritros! I think, about what You wrote is not only your problem: human is made that way, that him is not enough always
and anywhere!.. This also applies to money, of course! Every time us seem, that can a few earn money yet, and only then can go out
from table with feeling of accomplishment. Our inside demon constantly whispers us: " Dear, remain yet, you may earn a few more money, and go away a little later..." This is eternal fight with own inside ego!.. Who better learned to negotiate with own I, he is more successful in Poker, and not only in him... The all genius are very simply and in the same time are very difficult! I can only wish You
to learn to negotiate with yourself, as more often!:wavey:

I leave when I am unable to look at each hand objectively.

If I start to get tired, finding I am trying to protect a profit or chase a loss, it is time to leave.

I will also leave if I see that I am outmatched at my table.

Knowing when the time is correct depends on each player, if it depended on me I would know the moment I start losing more than 20% of what I started to play, but the truth is that it is best to set a limit, both of profit as of loss and respect that limit, so you do not exceed and at the same time you become a disciplined player.

I find that sometimes when I am quickly spiraling downward, when I am hemorrhaging chips, that just to simply stand up and walk away for a time can change the way things are going for the better. Change of space, change of air, genius loci, whatever. Take a walk ; )

It's easier for me to leave when I am up. It always feels good to book a win.

my mistake is, I can’t leave when I catch a downstrike or I’m not already playing on a bankroll

I believe you can't afford to play poker, casino and so on without self-control. Come on, you need to be strong. Energize yourself from sport, work, movies, music, family, hobbies.

When I bored, so I leave before do bad plays. SIncerly, I don't like long sessions of cash games.
