Chasing after losses or "trying to get unstuck" is kind of human nature, and something all cash game players have probably done at some point (I certainly have). But its bad strategy for a number of reasons. First of all we are usually not playing our best, when we are in this mindset (tilt). If we extend our session, we also get tired, and if nothing else our performance decline for that reason.
In top of that losing is also bad for table dynamics. If other players have owned us so far this session, then chances are, they will continue to do so, even if we are normally "better" than them. Whereas if we have been owning them, then we have a psycological edge on them, and maybe they are the ones to make some big tilted mistake trying to "win their money back". Or they simply seek to avoid us, which makes life at the poker table a whole lot easier, than if we constantly get played back at.
So we should forget all about extending our sessions to "get unstuck". On the contrary it can be a good idea to use some stop loss strategy like quitting for the day after losing 300-500BB in a cash game. And if we play online it can often be a reasonable strategy to leave a table, where we have been beat up, and other players might have noticed it. In that way we at least give ourselfes a fresh start and avoid irrational emotions like wanting to "fight back" at a particular player.
