Do you think its necessary to bet preflop in omaha or holdem when you're playing a hand that will either hit the flop hard or miss completely, like 89 suited or a double suited straight draw in omaha.

I know with both games, and omaha especially, you wanna knock out as many people as possible preflop in order to increase your odds of winning the hand. But if your hand is hit or miss, why bet preflop, knocking out people that can call you after the flop, when you can save the chips and bet on the flop if you hit it.

If you do hit the flop with one of these hands, chances are your gonna win the hand, and if you bet preflop, people will have some indication that you had a strong hand and then believe that you did hit the flop. Of course, if you don't bet preflop, and you miss the flop, you aren't likely going to be able to steal the pot with a bet on the flop.
