what, aren't there any real beer-makers present in the US market? czech or german beers perhaps? anything?

I had a hangover yesterday that would have killed all the youths itt, the most that entered my stomach all day was 1/4 of a cup of tea, instantly brought back up lol

there are lots of great Czech & German beers. The Germans invented the Lager method of brewing which is the predominant method used in mass produced beers in most places around the World (except the UK). The Bohemians, then in austria, now in the Czech Republic crafted the Pilsner style which became the foundation of Budweiser and other popular US Beers.
But I prefer Ales over Lagers and I really enjoy British Beer.
One thing about Beer drinking in the US; The mass produced beer here gradually lost all it's hoppiness starting in the 1960's. So when Microbrewers started popping up in the 1990's they all thought Hops = well made beer. This trend has got so out of hand that American Craft Beers tend to taste like Grapefruit Juice or even have a Gin-like taste with all the pine taste. At first I thought that liking this taste meant I was refined but I gradually realized that I prefer a more balanced beer with plenty of malt. That's why I like Stouts, Porters, Pale Ales (Not IPA's which are very Hoppy). Which is not to say that Hops don't have a place in Beer, they very much do, but they shouldn't be the overwhelming taste of the beer.
I also a bit of a purist, no fruity beers, no spiced beers, no gimmicks, just water, hops, yeast & grain.
The best beers I have ever had were Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout and Samuel Smith's Old Taddy Porter. I drink them every year at Christmas. Next time I go to Beers of the World I plan to pick up Fuller's London Pride and ESB.
But then again I tend to like a lot of British things; Monty Python, London Transport, The Brigade of Guards, Winston Churchill, Chicken Tikka Masala and Nigella Lawson.

Any of you guys good with computers??
My D: Drive (which i think is just a recovery drive or something according to google) is almost full, i mean when i got the laptop not too long ago it was probably a good bit full, but the other day i clicked on my computer and seen that it was into the red: 8.5gb of 116gb left, and today ive checked and theres 2.2gb of 116 left... Anyone know whats going on or anything? Thanks

in most computers the D Drive is your CD/DVD/CD-Rom drive. Are you booting off of that or writing to it?
usually the main drive is C:
E F & G drives are usually reserved for portable storage devices such as external hard drivers, cameras, iPods, etc.
The recovery disk on my laptop is the H: drive and I believe it is read only and cannot be written to or have files deleted or modified.
But if for whatever reason D: is you main hard drive you can run a disk cleanup by right clicking on the disk and going to properties and then selecting clean up. This will clean your cache and elimniate temp files. Also if you have some memory greedy files such as movies or video games or lots of songs you may want to get an external hard drive and move some of them off of it.
Another choice is to buy a bigger internal hard drive and have someone move the files to it.

Thanks for the reply fx, BenevG gave me some help on skype, think i've sorted it now, windows was automatically backing up to the d drive every week and not getting rid of old ones, so it was just full of back ups and nothing else.

Hey MBD! The sngs are still slow to fill if it is more than one table. The stts are not bad and uber soft, if you play abc poker you will cash. There is not as many 10nl tables since they added smaller stakes. That was my first cash table play in over a couple years, since I learned how to play. I am hoping some regs might still have notes on me from when I used to play there and thought nlhe was a drawing game, lol
I def plan on playing more cash.

I like how you assume everyone in Britain drinks ale. In the north (where I'm from) some people, especially older ones, drink bitter and some real ales but most people drink lager. I'm a Carlsberg Export man myself.

Im a carlsberg man myself too LC, not export though just standard is my first choice, but we're just stupid student pricks who dont care too much about the taste of lager/beers - im sure fx has a good point about beer and seems to know a lot about them

Can someone please explain to me what are the difference between the different brewing methods? I think I have drank pilsner, lager definitely, but not really sure on the other ones.
I'm more interested in the differences taste-wise, not so much how they're made.

Actually as your palette matures you will discover real ales and how much better they are than lager. I used to drink lager all the time, now I only touch some of the bottled lager. I will usually have 3-4 pints of real ale before switching to bottled lager as my stomach will only take a few pints of the real ale due to their heaviness.

Theres a lot of rage in that thread, but imo as a euro player, after initially being worried about my funds on there I am now thinking that FT is going to come out the end of this mess a better company, despite all the scaremongering, imo, US players will get paid eventually, and (hopefully) once they have and all the dust has settled FT are gonna look at the way they have been running and have a big overhaul, from the way they run the accounts down to the customer service, they are still a decent site promotions wise and they'll be dying to steal some of the euro traffic from stars and other sites.
Might be me being really stupid and ignorant to the seriousness of things, or maybe just looking through my rose tinted glasses but provided they dont go completely busto I think they will work hard after this to improve their battered rep.
