Well it was an interesting night.
Ended up going in for $80, and within an hour I was up to $160. Finding my spots and getting payed off. Table was really loose, especially a doctor who was there(busted $100 twice already and was in for his 3rd $100), he started complaining there wasnt enough action and raised in the dark UTG. I have 55 from late and call. Flop came 345 rainbow. He makes it $30 to go. After seeing him play he never bets over $10 with a made hand. I stare him down, hes behind the shades, lips sucked in with tight facial muscles. I raise it to $60 on top to just get the draws off. He looks back at his hand and pushes,
I have $35 left and have to call.

He flips over Q2o, turn comes. Ace. Made a straight. I have redraw outs to fill up but it doesnt come. Decided to call it a night. Definitely going back though.

imo shove the flop. bads, esp at homegames have a tenancy to be incapable of folding a draw OTF, but will insta dump it OTT. not to mention if he actually woke up with 77-AA hes going to snap you off and you do say you know hes not airballing here.

however i regularly find myself playing homegames that im simply not rolled for because theyre too juicy to pass up. if youre usually just a microgrinder or whatever and $60 is a fair amount for you to be playing with, i like flatting the flop for 3 reasons.
1. most loose homegame/live players are double barrelling here- hes either got a hand and doing it for value or hes bombing away because "theres not enough action" (to me that implies that the table is uber tight and therefore he thinks he can push you all around a lot)
2. you can wait until the turn to get it in, knowing the draw cards you dont wanna see. if the draw makes it and he actually has it, villian is gunna be thinking "OMGNUTS, check to trap" so you generally get a free look at the river here to fill up. if turn bricks, (and by bricks i mean is A-9) his draw just lost a bunch of equity and if he just had overs your giving him a chance to bink an unfoldable (to him) top pair.
3. youre not playing enough hands to deal with variance, so waiting til the turn bricks and your hand is significantly nuttier can be a good idea too

Well probably going back tonight, had a lot of fun last time, but hoping to get a little profit this time. Overall it was a good atmosphere besides the few guys that didnt respect me as soon as i got there since im only 18. Earned the respect of most people and the guy running at after I doubled my buy in within the first hour. Gotta watch out for the people that can afford to lose a lot, like the doctor throwing out hundreds like it was nothing. Im going to loosen up a tiny bit pre as will be going in for $100 tonight and going to pay more attention to the draw heavy boards and try not overplay my hands. Wish me luck.

Good luck - I hope you don't regret that - but you let us know. I'm thinking you will. You are seeing guys get lucky doing that and are getting sucked into the less optimal style for this scenario.

BTW, some of those guys may never respect you - figure out who they are and ram it right up their....

All this talk has me excited for my home game tomorrow. lol.

I give you a ton of credit Unrated, I wouldn't have the balls to buy in for $100 with a bunch of adults at this stage in my life.

Now go out there in kick some grown up ***!!!!

Buy in for $200 and just ship that 55 hand instead of leaving $35 behind.

Oh yeah home games are usually set up around a few whales. The games that i went to were the same way few whales few regs and some rec guys that knew a little bit. Just had a thought about the rake factor. Yes i know how much he made remember i took 20 percent home on a good night about 1500 was what he made. Yeah he is making money but

1. i dont have to drive 2 hours to the boat and wait for a seat on only 5 damn tables.
2. So what its ****IN AMERICA he wants to run a game its his home and he can do whatever the hell he wants..(my opinion)
3. Screw the casino because of them and them wanting a piece of the online pie we dont have 2 of the best sites anymore.... well maybe not FTP since.......... well im not going there.. LMAO

Checked into it the one game that did get raided all the money was siezed. The host covered everyones initial buy in from his safe and a few weeks later host got money back from cops.

Sorry for not updating everyone. Had some girl problems around the time I played, things went very bad for me, in a long term relationship so its pretty important to me and had my life occupied for the past couple weeks but finally things are getting better and looking forward to playing again. As for the game that night,

When I got there no one was buying in as big so I went in for $75, that was around 7:00PM. Went up and down for a while, but the doctor that busted me the previous week, I busted him and he left right after. By midnight we took a break and I cashed out $20 of what I had just to have a little more in my wallet and continued to play 8 people, then SH. It was late and I really didnt feel like going home so I played until 4am that morning. When it got shorthanded my skill quickly took the edge and I ran up to around $300.

One of the guys there that had already lost a lot of money and I was running over lost his temper and said he wasnt folding to me anymore. Of course he did but he got more aggro toward me. We got into a big hand, I had AK and ended up flopping top pair ace kicker on a 8TK board. I bet big on flop, he raised, I called and the turn came a 9. I bet big again, around $40 I think and he shoved on me. I thought for a while and thinking that since he was in the blind he turned his straight and gave it up. He had a pair of tens and showed them to me. That got me off my game and ended up playing bad after that. So ended up leaving about even, but still wasnt a bad night, would have been a great night If I had made the call.

Sorry for hijacking Unrated, but I felt it would be better than creating a whole new thread.

Just got back from our weekly cash game (ended rather early after host busted, and people were just tired lol).

We play 5nl, and I was down to about $1, and everyone agreed that we would only play for another 15 minutes.

I decided that I would reload and get back to $5.

I look down at the very next hand after I added on and see AK. I think to myself, "Comon Baby lets go."

I raised it up to $.25, (I know its 5X but it is the only size that actually gets people to fold in this home game.)

I get 2 callers and the flop comes down A-some low card-K.Rainbow

I put on my poker face.

Actions on me, so I bet the pot, (Players are oblivious to bet sizing, so I just pot it whenever I have a great hand, and usually get paid off.)

One guy calls, and the next player, who is an extreme LAGTARD, raises me.

I decided just to smooth call because I knew there were not that many scare cards.

Turn is another blank. I see him reaching for chips, so I decided to check, and of course he bets it. I just call.

River is another K. "BINGO"

I shove, he calls and shows A6. I try not to LOL, and rake in the chips.

I ended up breaking even on the night just because of that one hand.

I can't thank WVHILLBILLY, and everyone else enough who always post: "START EVERY HAND WITH 100BB."

Excellent, excellent advice! :)
