I will sometimes want to leave after winning a significantly large pot. I will always stay til the blinds come around to me at least once then leave before the BB hits me a 2nd time. Leaving immediately just seems like bad ettiquette, so I will stay for an orbit or 2 after.

I sort of use to be bummed about it but now days I really don't mind at
all everyone plays to win after all.
And ofc the moment he leaves another one takes its place so its all good.

I sometimes do it when I've doubled up my stack. I start fresh at a new table after that. It doesn't happen very often so I have to take advantage of it when it occurs.

It used to bother me but not anymore and yes I will hit and run sometimes also. I've learned that the table will turn at some point so best to leave when ahead.

As long as no house rules are violated, you don't get to dictate how I play and I don't get to dictate how you play.
Accept this and stay unemotional.

Am I the only person it irks when someone hits and run. Do you ever do it? Is it ok to do it?

It is the point of any cash game that you can sit at a table and leave whenever you want.

However, if I know that a player consistently hits-and-runs then I won't give him any action because I won't get a chance to get my money back if I lose the hand.

Good luck !

we can not always criticize that kind of actions sometimes they just want to steal the pot and someone has something better sometimes you have a strong hand but not so strong example if you have 7-7 bets 3 bet and they make you a re-raise of 12 bet I think it's okay to run is telling you that you probably have a better opening hand like JJ or QQ up to AK this I read recently it is better to make a mistake to lose fewer chips before the flop than to commit a big one after the flop and lose a lot of chips good luck greetings:deal:

It bothers me when player doubles up on me then leaves. But that is poker. I would have like to get another chance to win it back however It’s his right to leave anytime. But bother me more is if I see him seat another table right after rather than leaving the casino. Means he’s too afraid to continue playing poker deeper stack with the table

Sure, cash it however and whenever you want... That's what I do, set a goal and leave when it's reached.

of course this is unpleasant, but the rules are not prohibited, just mark such players and not play or punish:icon_joke

Online I think, its just part of the game, that people can leave, whenever they want, and for whatever reason. Also why does it even matter? Online there are always other tables running and other people playing, so players being "stuck" have plenty of chances to win their money back.

In live poker I would personally be hesitant to make a "hit-and-run", if I though, it would be ill received, and I might come back to play with them another time. I think, if you are a professional or semi-professional live player, you need to treat the weaker players in your game like your customers, and try to make them happy.

I can still see situations, where I might do it though. If for instance I am sitting with a big stack, and some wild maniac is deep stacked as well, that might force me to play outside my bankroll and comfort zone, and I see no reason, why I should accept this. So in that situation I would just make some excuse, that my wife texted me, and our son is sick, so I have to go home.

sometimes the way others play will bother you, it happens to me, but I shouldn't get you out of your game.

It's considered poor form in a live cash game where I come from, and could cause some arguments or worse lol
Obviously most don't care about etiquette of any kind online..

I've never understood all these debates about poker etiquette. I get why hit and run might be annoying to other players at the table, but if its not against the rules of the poker room or casino, players can do whatever they want. If someone wins a big pot and wants to leave the game its their prerogative.

I do it after I have won the amount I intended to but sometimes I play a few more hands and then leave.

I've done it once. Playing a 1/2 NL and had $130 on the table. 3 people shoved before me and I looked down at Q4 suited. Based on the play I realized I was at least live, which I was. Two had AK and one had AJ. Flopped a 4 and rivered a 4. scooped and had to leave since I went there with a bunch of people.

You are definitely not the only person doing that, in my opinion the majority of poker players are irritated what it happens to them even though they do it themselves sometimes. I think the reason is that people regard the person who makes a profit and quickly leaves the table as a weak player and feel he would have made mistakes if he stayed longer, and if that rationale is correct, then the person is making the best decision for himself to leave the table with his winnings. After all, that was the reason he sat down at the table in the first place, to make money off the other players, not vice versa.

Recently, it has hung on Zoom poker, you won’t run there. Sometimes this was done if there was not enough minimal sum to withdraw. Jumped over the limits.

Online, it's fair play.

Offline, it's a risky move depending on the stakes.
