Hi

For those who use Pokertracker, do you think it's worth creating automated notes for 3betting ranges for each position? Like, BU vs. EP, BU vs. MP, etc. Or would it be too many notes?

Thanks

Even the best players go through downswings. All you can do is stay mentally strong, disciplined and make sure you are always making the best decisions. If you feel like tilt is taking over, take a break and come back with a clear mind.

Poker isn't a race. It's a marathon whether you are playing cash or tournaments.

Hi

Played 2 hands today where I wasn't sure of what to do.

PokerStars - €0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 115.6 BB (VPIP: 15.27, PFR: 11.72, 3Bet Preflop: 6.59, Hands: 13,715)
SB: 58.4 BB (VPIP: 61.54, PFR: 15.38, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 13)
BB: 27.4 BB (VPIP: 20.00, PFR: 10.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 30)
UTG: 179 BB (VPIP: 70.73, PFR: 48.78, 3Bet Preflop: 12.50, Hands: 42)
MP: 100 BB (VPIP: 17.83, PFR: 11.25, 3Bet Preflop: 1.12, Hands: 793)
Hero (CO): 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has K:spade: A:diamond:

UTG raises to 3 BB, fold, Hero raises to 10.4 BB, fold, fold, fold, UTG raises to 21 BB, Hero calls 10.6 BB

Flop: (43.4 BB, 2 players) 8:club: 5:spade: J:diamond:
UTG bets 22.2 BB, fold

UTG wins 41.2 BB

Didn't know what to do in this situation but used PokerSnowie's Preflop Advisor to decide. Still not sure though.. Was the 1st time I saw him 4betting but I assume he had a better hand which made me feel inclined to fold.

PokerStars - €0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players

Hero (SB): 171.8 BB
BB: 118 BB (VPIP: 15.27, PFR: 11.72, 3Bet Preflop: 6.59, Hands: 13,782)
UTG: 68.8 BB (VPIP: 60.00, PFR: 40.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 5)
MP: 65.6 BB (VPIP: 50.00, PFR: 14.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 51)
CO: 101.6 BB (VPIP: 41.38, PFR: 15.27, 3Bet Preflop: 3.16, Hands: 419)
BTN: 100 BB (VPIP: 24.02, PFR: 18.89, 3Bet Preflop: 7.79, Hands: 2,932)

Hero posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has T:heart: Q:heart:

fold, fold, fold, BTN raises to 3 BB, Hero raises to 10 BB, fold, BTN calls 7 BB

Flop: (21 BB, 2 players) J:diamond: K:diamond: T:diamond:
Hero checks, BTN bets 14.2 BB, fold

BTN wins 20 BB

In this hand, I would have c-bet the flop if it wasn't all of the same colour. Also, this reg is pretty sticky and doesn't like folding to 3bets so it was a pretty difficult spot.

Appreciate the input.

Some excellent advice on here!

I thought this was one of the best reminders given,
""Remember your game isnt better or worse based on confidence"" outstanding advice!!

I know for me personally after a huge losing streak that broke my confidence I just needed better preparation and goals, stick to your style and read poker books between hands in tourneys. Its math, its poker. and sometimes just dumb luck. You'll snap out of it!

Hi

I'm a cash game player and am currently going through a massive downswing at NL5. I lost 56€ in the last 5 days and also 15€ in NL10 which is amazing to me. Today, I decided to drop back down to NL2 and I honestly don't see how I'll be able to move up again despite still having 235€ and 3900 starscoins. NL5 was going great until June 1st when I hit the 300€ mark. After that, it was just a rollercoaster having peaked at 311€ and now at 232€.

I'm just looking for advice from people who've been where I am now. I don't want to play NL2 forever but my confidence for higher stakes went down the drain.

Edit: Here are some graphs from my play in NL5.

Thanks

All the best to you! You will get that bank roll back !

Hi

Was this an easy fold?

PokerStars - €0.05 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 102 BB (VPIP: 20.10, PFR: 14.51, 3Bet Preflop: 4.61, Hands: 641)
SB: 100.4 BB (VPIP: 16.09, PFR: 13.03, 3Bet Preflop: 4.47, Hands: 5,453)
BB: 196.4 BB (VPIP: 55.95, PFR: 7.14, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 172)
UTG: 37.2 BB (VPIP: 57.86, PFR: 23.27, 3Bet Preflop: 11.32, Hands: 159)
MP: 211.8 BB (VPIP: 20.59, PFR: 12.23, 3Bet Preflop: 1.68, Hands: 3,356)
Hero (CO): 100 BB

SB posts SB 0.4 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.4 BB) Hero has Q Q

fold, MP raises to 3 BB, Hero raises to 10.4 BB, fold, fold, fold, MP calls 7.4 BB

Flop: (22.2 BB, 2 players) J 3 4
MP checks, Hero bets 14 BB, MP raises to 31 BB, Hero calls 17 BB

Turn: (84.2 BB, 2 players) 7
MP bets 53.4 BB, Hero raises to 58.6 BB and is all-in, MP calls 5.2 BB

VPIP: 20.59, PFR: 12.23, 3Bet Preflop: 1.68 -- Given the big gap in VPIP and PFR, this suggests weak/passive. Yet, this vill has c/r flop (even if it was little more than a min-raise) and is leading strongly despite that a relative blank just rolled off.

I might call the min-raise, just in case this might be a play with (As,Ks) that's looking to pick up the pot with two overs + NFD on a dryish board. Although I's expect a bigger c/r if that were the case. Usually, min-raises are made expecting to get called. Would this player fire a second barrel, knowing you probably have at least jacks? I'm definitely folding 4th, if not the flop.

(201.4 BB, 2 players) 3

MP shows 4 4 (Full House, Fours full of Threes)
(Pre 19%, Flop 87%, Turn 95%)
Hero shows Q Q (Two Pair, Queens and Threes)
(Pre 81%, Flop 13%, Turn 5%)
MP wins 191.4 BB

Thought it wasn't profitable to call 3bets with 44. She's hitting everything anyway.
It all depends on who's doing the 3-betting and how they play post. I play these small pockets against opponents I know probably have TPTK or overs and will overplay those hands for stacks. The implied odds justify it in cases like that. Against opponents who'll shut down when they encounter resistance, then no. The implied odds probably aren't there.

I can understand how ya feel... I think that my game is better now, however, I had one winning hand in my last tournament... I watched to see if I could had won any other hands and had one hand that won....
Sucks to sit for hours and not get but one hand of KK...

If your cash game is going bad, try tournaments or better - Sit & Gos for a change. You could say you are a cash game player but you should be aware of the argument - try it FOR A CHANGE. At least thats what I do in a downswing. Shut off cash games completely and try tournaments for a brief period. Tournaments have completely different atmosphere from cash games and when your cash tables dont go well - tournaments are a good and necessary change.
