Cash games are a totally different type of Beast! If you bust there is nothing to stop you re-stacking and try to win your money back, which usually leads to more money lost.
I used to play them Live when I had a read on a particular player or even several players sat at the table, but there was one regular that I would purposely try to avoid, He was a super aggressive player and would raise every pot he was involved in and every time he raised, I folded unless I held a Monster hand.
Blinds were only 50 pence and £1.00 and he would raise to £10.00 pre-flop with any Ace rag. The only way to beat him was to shove all in with your monster
hands and cross your fingers if he called. He knew I was a tight player in the local cash game and once I shoved he knew I had a monster hand because I would show when he folded to me. This tac-tic worked well in my favour because once he knew I was shoving with big pocket pairs I could play a few bluffs at him,
I still prefer the tournament style game, when you are out, you are out, and once you are down to heads up is when I become an aggressive player. Playing tight early on gives the impression that you are a Nit! and will only play premium hands, this then works to your advantage when you are 3 or 4 handed or down to heads up play.
When the fun Stops, STOP!
