Everyone always discusses using a certain strategy when playing a particular poker game (tournament, sit n go, ring etc.). While I think it's a good idea to stick to the stragedy that best works for you, I don't think you should stick with it throughout the duration of the game. As you start, yes. But as you become more preceptive to the other players' playing styles, you should shift strategies depending on the player or situation.
For example, if you know Player A likes to bluff a lot and you're up against him/her, you would be more agressive towards that player. However, if you know Player B is tight and generally only plays the good hands, you would play more conservative and cautious. Perception and observation is key when deicding what tactic to use.
It's all about adjusting because in many poker games, things change constantly whether it would be how the cards fall, how is chip leader, blinds, etc.
