I am brand new to playing real money cash games. I am playing online and mostly sticking to micro stakes. But I anticipate venturing into a live game here in the future, eventually

Some games i can double, even triple my buy in. Some, i lose all flat out. Such is poker.

My question is....do i stick it out and try to win back money at tables I've lost, or is it wiser to just move on and find a new table with new players?

The reason i would stay is that i've learned that "playing against better players will make you better", but at the same time you'll lose money.

When i do move on to a new table, sometimes i end up finding a table where i can come out ahead and regain lost money.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I think if you dont think you have an edge you should leave.

If you think you are the worst player at the table you should definitely not sit. I would however, watch the table and see if you can learn anything, or maybe you were wrong and maybe you would be one of the better players at the table.

If you have just started playing for cash, the safest thing is to sit with a minimum stake, play cautiously and learn. Change the table if you think you are worse than the other players, and from experience I can say that it is difficult to find 2 bad players at the table because generally everyone plays well or at least solid.

It's important to strike a balance between challenging yourself and managing your bankroll. While playing against better players can improve your skills, constantly trying to win back lost money at the same table may not always be the best approach. It's wise to mix it up by occasionally moving to new tables with different players to assess your performance and capitalize on opportunities to recover losses. Remember, poker is a long-term game, and discipline in bankroll management is key.

Its true, that you learn from playing with good players. But there will always be at least some good players, so this will come naturally. For most people having fun with poker means winning. Constantly losing require deep pockets, and it will also be demotivating for most. And therefore you should definitely table select and look to mostly play against bad players. Your goal at this state is to have fun and become better. Its not to become the best in the world. The only thing, I will say, is, that just because you have been felted a few times, does not mean the table is bad. So you should not leave, JUST because you are down. If your KK ran into AA, that has nothing to do with the table.

Game selection is absolutely crucial for your win rate. Don't be proud. Find a game where you see that people are making big mistakes.

The 10th-best player in the world is still a loser if he continues to play with the world's 9 best players.

Case in point: Gus Hansen. A talented player but the biggest loser ever in online cash games, because he insisted on trying to beat the very best (at the time). Also as a final point: Dont chase after losses. Or for that matter leave to "lock up a win". Life is one long poker session, and the result of an individual day does not matter. The only legit reason to leave due to results, is, if losing has affected your mental game, so that you are no longer enjoying yourself or playing well (tilt). For new players it is often a good idea to use some sort of stop-loss stategy. Like maybe bringing 3 full table buyins to the casino, and if you lose it all, you are done for the day.

If you are on a table and you feel every opponent has an edge on you, you should leave ASAP.
Find tables where there are 1 or 2 players you think you have an edge over and play there.

Don't leave simply because you lost, only if you realize villains are better. You might get all in on a 95% EV spot and still lose, that would usually be a spot to keep playing because Villain showed you he makes massive mistakes... leaving that table would be your biggest mistake.

You will always have one or more solid players at the table, and you will play against them from time to time. Don't go looking for better players for the sake of experience, that's expensive experience. It comes as you go.

It's important to remember that losing is a natural part of playing poker, even for experienced playershowever, constantly playing at a table where you are losing money may not be the best strategy. It is important to analyze why you are losing and whether it is due to the skill level of other players or just bad luck.

If you find yourself consistently losing to better players, it may be worth taking a break or moving to another table with players you can relate to. on the other hand, if you feel like you're just having a series of bad luck, it might be worth sticking it out and trying to win back your losses.

Ultimately, it's important to find a balance between challenging yourself by playing against stronger players without risking too much money. Good luck at the tables

Yes, if you think you are the weakest and you lose, do not try to win it back by different play/bluff or what.

Just leave and go to different stakes or table and see how it goes there.

If they can smell fear on you it’s over … you have to be comfortable with your game and show em who’s boss … control the table … built that mindset and you are gonna teach the top of your game.

If you don't "feel" it, you should leave, no matter if your feeling there is real or not. Poker is a game that must be approached with confidence, otherwise you end up on the loosing side quite fast.

I'd say if you think you're the weakest player there run, do not walk run... yes you will learn observing and playing with good players but you don't want to ever be the weakest person on the table in a cash game , find a more balanced table👍

Hi
First of all, you should start from your bankroll management. If it allows you to change tables, then there is no problem. Obviously, if you start losing then you should change something, and for example it could be the table. But most importantly, always follow bankroll management and then you will not be afraid of any losses.
Good luck :)

I usually watch a round or two and if I feel like it is way above my comfort zone, I leave immediately before loosing a penny. There are so many options out there, you can find something you can work with.

Not really. Sometimes only tough games are available. Try to bring in your A Game and embrace high variance if you lack a skill edge.

All this is possible only if you are comfortable with the stakes and have a game plan. Or else it will cost you lot of EV in short run.

If you feel like a weak player and you're constantly losing, you should leave this poker path to another poker path and play other tournaments if you're not lucky enough to find another game there and try to be the best there because so many games in the world are better off being somewhere else than being the last one in poker

Definitely yes.
if you can't identify a fish in a cash game, it means you are a fish. Winning in poker does not depend on whether you beat a specific person, poker is about finding a weaker opponent and winning from him as much as possible.
If software such as "pokerstars" allows you to color mark your opponents, do it every time you are able to classify your opponent into a certain category (NIT, REG, FISH, etc.). If you play regularly, after a few days you will have a lot of information about your opponents and after entering the table you will immediately be able to see whether playing at this table will be profitable for you.

Hello, an important part of maintaining your bankroll is knowing when to withdraw, don't insist so much. If you feel that you have already lost enough, retire, even if you don't feel it indirectly, anger or anger will affect your game.
As for what to do, my advice is to play zoom tables, since in these you will find good players but they don't know your level. Many times at regular tables there are players who follow you and take advantage of that.
I wish you luck

All players, new or experienced, should look to play at tables with weaker opponents.
An old saying, "If, after 30 minutes, you have not identified the fish at the table, then you are it."
Of course you want to play against weaker players. The more the better.
Make notes of players you know you can beat.
Look for them at the tables.
Try and sit on their left if they are passive, or on their right if they are raising a lot with garbage, so you can check raise them.
The name of the game is to make money. You do that by playing against bad/weak players.

Books are for learning , throwing your bankroll away is nuts. Get up and leave mate. Find an easier table till your game gets better.

Cash gives an ideal lifestyle, and there are always people willing to follow it. Therefore, in cash games the general level of understanding of the game is higher than in tournament poker. In cash games you are more likely to end up at a table with regulars than in tournament poker.
