How do you play wa/wb spots from out of position?
For example you have KK in a raised pot you are first to act and an ace flops.
What adjustments should we make if we have a particularly passive or agressive opponent?

Instead of thinking about what my exact hand is, i focus on who my opponent is. If they are a weak player I think about their range, and extract value via small bets or checking to induce, vs a good reg i focus on what my total range needs to do.

What do you think of trapping everyhand , I can not fade it. I've let people " get there " a huge amount of times with this style. But I like the free money.

What is the best way to play Zone poker on ignition? Should you only play high suited connectors and pairs or play the normal way?

What do you think about Zone poker?

Dedinitely not!

You need to be agressive with bluffs and thus with your strong hands as well.

Zone is good way to get in volume.

Id play zone normally in terms of our opening ranges, and bluffs/etc.

But id play much tighter vs other's opens and vs their 3bets. (As people play wayyyy too tight.)

1) Depends on what you have access to. Softest sites are best place to start.

2) I strongly prefer poker tracker.

3) See my previous post in this thread.

Hi. i want to ask you something about bankroll. If a started with 50$ and played 1$ buy-in when do you think it is reasonable to move to higher level?. lets say that now i have $90. I feel good and confident in this level. Should i play 2$ buy-ins?

Cash games you focus on blind level, not buy-in, but if you were doing $1 buy-ins at .01-.02 (2nl) you could certainly start doing 2$ buyins at 2nl at 90$ and consider taking some $2.5 shot takes at 5nl, and move fully to 5nl at $150

How did you get so good? Do you attribute your success to hard work, study dedication and experience? Or do you feel that you have a natural talent for the game.

How important is learning GTO strategy? And how far has GTO strategy progressed since you we're first introduced to it?

Hard work and study and playing many hours.

(Mostly study+getting coached.)

GTO has come a long ways the last few years.

I primarily play on Stars and Party, however I keep a few bucks on 888. Generally I play when I have time to given I work full time and commute to the job, plus I have three kids all under 7 at home. Fitting in time with the Mrs, plus kids, plus keeping on top of work I find I usually can only fit in an hour to 90 min session a few days a week.

Clearly MTT's don't fit my schedule, but in your opinion what's the better variant to play that will develop my game better (not necessarily quicker), keeping in mind that my total poker bankroll currently is about $700 (across three sites)

Regular cash game tables 5NL or lower
SnG $5.50 or lower
ZOOM / SNAP / FastForward 5NL or lower
Spins / Blast / SnG Hero $3 or lower
Zoom/Snap or General 6max/Hu Cash will develope your game the best.

HU/Spin SNGs 2nd Best, MTTs 3rd.

MTTs are easiest to beat and move up in, but require most volume/patience.

What, in your opinion, are the necessary adjustments you make between tourneys and ring games.

I'm a tourney player at heart, but tourneys are taking too much time. A ring session for me usually lasts an hour or so. It used to be (3+ years ago) that a SnG would be over in an hour. These days that is closer to 2+ hours.

So I'm looking for a few points to focus on when changing to ring more permanently.

I play the US sites, except at ignition. Never did like that anonymous thing. So WPN, BOL/SB, and occasionally ITOP/JS.

Cash requires a lot more post flop play. Thus you need to player somewhat tighter overall preflop.

Most people play overly tight in cash, especially on turns and rivers.

Lots of great resources out there to learn, Upswingpoker is great place to start.

Upswingpoker provides good value content.

Doug Polk is a very skilled player in cash and tournaments.

Hey Protential,

do you have sort of a "thinking pattern" that you use on every hand?
I was wondering if creating something like this would help me play every hand optimally.
Thanks!

I ask mysepf a lot of questions about what my goals are in the hand.

If my opponent is exceptionally good then I focus on what my range needs to do, and how best to split it.

Ask me anything Cash Game related that doesnt involve a specific hand!

Topics like: Theory questions, studying questions, mindset, game selection, bankroll management, staking industry, sites to play on, software and tools, where to play live, live adjustments, etc.

If you'd like my input on a handhistory please post it in the designated area of the site and I'll happily give my input!

What is the regular cash game that you play? IE stake/ casino/ variant etc.

Hey Ryan, I'm noticing a trend playing 2NL ZOOM on Stars where players are frequently overbetting the pot either pre-flop or on the river by plowing in. I think I counted at least 4 instances tonight in 160 hands where I was three bet all in for at least 80BB, if not well over 150BB preflop.

I found myself frustrated and cut my session short as a result Whats' the theory behind this, if there is one and how do you think is the best way to combat it?

Not really a theory behind it, gotta find out what people do it with and adjust. Because its zoom id expect to see JJ+/AK a lot.
