Winning small, LOSING BIG?

I have found a very frustrating pattern in my poker game this last week. I do very well for an hour but only winning little pots on flops and turn. I will slowly work my cash up to 15-20 BB in that time making aggressive plays (textbook poker) and doing well.

I then giving it all back away in one large loss. The times I get my money in the middle for a good sized pot I ALWAYS end up on the short end. I am not pushing on draws or straight but just dumb luck every time.

Example hand:
I started w/ $3 at the table and in 45 min had it up to over 4. I even sniffed this one out on the river and saved myself some money by checking. Did I play this wrong? Should I have even been in this hand? Table has been very passive to this point.

well this hand is just bad luck; if the table was very passive i'd have raised with KT aswell, but it's still not the best hand.
I know you've heard it time and time again but "don't be results oriented"
he played very strange....calling with a 4 all the way down, then checking when he 2 paired it? Maybe he was trying to checkraise the river?
either way I'd wait for a better hand to raise with
As for the betting i think the pot was like .60 at the flop? Maybe betting at least half the pot would be better, i dunno
Anyways i think this one was just bad luck, and should have been yours.
If you tighten up a little bit more and bet your big hands hard, then you should get a nice steady income i think

Raising 3BBs into 4 limpers is pretty pointless - either limp, throw in a raise to 6BBs or so, or fold (probably in that order of preference).

Rest of the hand is fine considering that villain appears to be quite the calling station.

I agree, the pre-flop raise was pretty pointless. I'm not a huge fan of raising with Kx though. I would've called. But, from there on.. it wasn't bad play at all. I might've bet more on the flop.. depending on my feel for who i'm against. But really that's just nit-picky. The guy just played that hand horrible and sucked-out. End of story.

Thats the kind of hand that could make you start playing stupid, in an effort to get your money back from that guy. Hehe, but don't. Eventually he will give your money away to someone else, or back to you. But be patient and don't try to intentionally tangle with him, or it will just cost you more. Unfortunately, you're going to run into a number of idiots out there, just chalk it up to bad luck and remember to put a note on him .
