There are three main types of games on most online poker sites:
Ring Game = cash game, players drop in and out at will, game continues.
Multi-Table Tournament = begins at a pre-arranged time. Players pay an entry fee and then play until all but the winner are eliminated.
Sit & Go = similar to an MTT but usually smaller, often only one table. Has no preset start time, begins as soon as the places are taken.
