It’s hard to play 99 postflop in a 4-bet pot versus unknown. When we do call a 4-bet we already showed that we don’t own the nuts (KK+). To play a 4-bet pot with such a hand we should have some information about villain, that we could make it fold somehow postflop, for we aren’t trusting 99 will hit a set or get good draws that will allow us to bluff in some way.
And I disagree of our mate Station Master: this is not a small sizing, it’s a little bit polarized. At lower levels players are 4-betting to 3x versus 3-bet, but NLHE 50+, 2.2x is a fine sizing, considering players are more balanced with bluffs and values. At lower stakes players are basically 4-betting 80% values and 20% bluffs, this is why they choose a large sizing. IMO, for NLHE 100, 2.2x, 2.3x are normal sizings.

Best regards;

2.2x is fine in position for a 4bet but it is small for out of position, should be more like 2.8x.

Hero almost has the odds to set mine, as only needs to call $11.50 to win the $39.50 on the pot and remaining $96 in villains stack. Of course sometimes 99 will be the best hand without hitting a set, e.g. v AK and we would be calling cbets on alot of boards
