Are odds of progressing in a Tounry Linear? Or is the difficulty progressively higher as you advance.

Lets say you join a Tournament with 900 players.

900, to reach to 90 players 90% of the field has to be eliminated.

From 90 players to 9 players, another 90% of the field has to be eliminated.

And in the final table from 9 to 1, another 90% of the field has to be eliminated.

So is the progression linear in terms of difficulty or does it get progressively harder. Assuming the 900 players had 450 fishes, and by the final table you might have 1 fish and everyone else is pretty attune to what they are doing.

Asking because I usually join 1,000-3,000 entry but I am getting stuck around the 19-50th places. And missing the final table.

You probably have more skilled opponents in the end.
But i think that in the late stages it is also a lot about luck.

Usually the blinds are very high and you do not have the stack
to keep folding forever. If you are dealt obvious folds in that stage
you will not see the final table regardless of your or your opponents
skills.
