Hello there,
Not long ago I decided to get back into playing poker on pokerstars.... deposited 10 bucks and within that night I was broke just a real bad run in cash games... I'm wondering with my next deposit of 30 bucks is it worth while to take to the micro mtt's... like the 0.55 cent 1k gtd and 1.5k gtd and similar ones... any input or advice would be nice

I think that is a good start. you should also mix in some small stakes SNGs. Find out what your best game is and use that to build the bankroll. It might even be some small stakes cash games.

Yeah I always see myself resorting back to cash games and never really did bother with any tournaments... but I want to expand my game and play the mtt's.... a few good runs would buff it up nice... and what your saying is that 55 cent but ins aren't a bad place to start?

It is recommended to have 100 times the buy in when venturing out into tournament poker. Best of luck to you.

Good enough if you like them!
Some people would play SnG or cash games ones instead, but I'd prefer MTTs, micro ones are great for building sweet bankroll! Good luck!

I think in tournament is much more likely to lose bankroll. $ 30 bankroll is very little for tournaments, but you can get lucky and you win money, but I think Cash Game NL-2 is more suitable for your bankroll

I agree 100% but aside from playing cash games i am putting up another vote for small stakes SNGs. With such a small bankroll of $30 the odds of you winning an 700+ field are pretty slim - where as a 1/9 odds are pretty decent. Just consider it final table practice lol. Seriously though, unless you hit a final table score - mtt's wont be worth your risk. Play SNGs or cash bud.

Sng is a fantastic way to build bank roll, at $30 bankroll it going to struggle as most fields will be plus 1000 players very difficult to cash in a high percentage and even tougher to get to final table where the money becomes worthwhile

I like the how the comments are varied... the reason I say I would want to play mtt's I just feel I play better... obviously everyone is in it to build a huge bankroll but... I'm doing it more or less for fun... I'm a serious poker player yes but I don't set out to make a living from online poker as I got a wonderful job... but playing in real money tournaments to up my skill and see if I can make a few deep runs...and get a taste for it all

Are you limited to just playing on pokerstars? Have you thought about maybe playing else where maybe on ipoker network for example where they have smaller fields to reduce the varience? It also means you dont have to sit at the table for 6-8hours to win $20.

yes play mtt is always the best way to get to increase his banckroll in the long term. For the cash game it is much more difficult because of the variant but I like to try my luck sometimes on a table 6 player max.

I would start with the micro limits. 55c $ 3.30, but it all depends on how you assess your level of play. If freerolls you do not feel comfortable with the game Bains is likely to be a waste of money and time.

I think MTT is good, but you have to complete playing SNG, it's the perfect way to build a bankroll

Avoid large field small buy in MTTs. Like 400 players maximum and play freerolls at same time....put in some effort into this forum and get FRC membership.

Cash is only for super skilled players since there is no socialism value,no guarantee overlay value, you risk a lot to win a little, there are bots playing endless hours, the rake is high freqeuncy and your opponets should be filtered and selected for....don't just sit down at any table for now dont play cash.

Just play 50 man guaranteed Sats. register before you win to collect TB bucks. Sit N gos are also OK.

I will second that, dont go for HUGE tournaments like the big 50 cents
these are a HUGE boost to the bankroll but you would literally have to run like a god, there is no shortcut to it, and the likelyhood that you run that good is not a good thing, you could try the 50c 90 man SNGs but from what i hear again you have to run well and be good at them cus the swings can be high, just not as high as a larger sized MTT

What kind of person would I be if I let you go through life any longer without knowing that MTT stands for Multi Table Tournament?:ciao:

I think a lot of depends on your game. I tend to be strongest in MTT's with larger fields but I play a lot of them. Regardless the type, an MTT player needs to play volume to be successful in a reasonable amount of time. I will play cash games as well as a way to supplement my tourney buy-in's but most of my time is spent on MTT's that suit my style. It may be difficult starting with $30 but I started with $2 and never looked back so go for it.

All it takes is one good cash in a MTT $0.55 guarantee tournament. If you deposit $30, that gives you quite a few tries to experiment different ways to play it.

Those micro MTT's are a slow and often frustrating grind, especially on pokerstars, but they have the most games played most often in the buy-in range of your choice.
I'm just a recreational player who enjoys playing poker and considers any cash as an ITM victory and the larger the victory, the happier I am.

I would do cash or sng's. Too much variance in mtt's.

I recommend playing the 0,10$ SnG (360 Player) and mix in some 0,25$ SnG (90 player) with some 0,55$ KO Bounty Builder on the weekends. You won't get rich quickly nor bankrupt. It'll give you a lot of experience and whenever you are in +, you can stab at other games fearlessly, gaining more and more experience.
