What method of studying poker do you use or did you use?

I don't think I use a single method of studying, I like to watch videos and poker strategy articles, here in CC there are courses and good strategy articles.
I also study some ranges, open raise tables, preflop play and at the anothers street, etc., mainly focused on tournaments.
I read poker books, now I'm reading one, where the professional exposes hands played by him in tournaments and explain about his movements, very interesting.
I'm interested in reading feedback about tournament hands on the forums too.
I also like to watch tournament replays with cards shown, to see works moves, new winning strategies, or interesting moves that we can learn a lot from and put into practice.

I watch You Tube videos and live streams of good players

i learn from poker schools and strategy books but i realize that no mater what strategy u use to win a tournament u need luck and inspiration strateggy is god to be disciplinated and wait 4 the right moment to rise the pot but u cant beat a lucky guy

I think studying your own game should never be overlooked. Studying how you play after a game allow you to find the leaks you have and can focus your studying on what you need to improve on most. For me personally no matter what I'm studying be it forums hand reviews, books, videos, etc. there is almost always a significant hand review before or after to find how my game relates to what I just learned and thinking of ways I can implement it in my strategy during my next session

Studying poker i only focus on my experiences. Trying diffrent tactings, bluffing etc.Of course i observe other players how they roll their bankroll.

I read books and watch some videos. I like to focus in on one topic and put the lesson into action a few times and then revisit what I read. Rinse and repeat until I feel I have it down.

Some nice methods I'd recommend:

** Mark hands you're not sure about in-game and then post them here on CardsChat in the tourney or cash hand discussion sub-forums

** Use ICM software for shove/fold decisions (free versions available)

** Watch final table replays and streams with top players you respect to see how they're approaching different spots

It always depends on what's more comfortable for you cause we're all different ... In my case I like videos explaining and playing also read strategy and math theory and put it into practice I'm not very good with notes on players although I haven't organized that yet ...

But what do I think the most important and helpful of all is reviewing your hands the ones you win and the ones you lost analysis of that will definitely improve your game

I personally focus mainly on theory from books, known succesful players or currently the Cardschat 30 day course. I try to avoid 'learning' from sources of which I am not sure if they are reputable or if there is a succesful player behind it. Regarding e.g. Youtube videos of competitions: It's entertaining to watch, but otherwise it's just a small excerpt of a larger (longitudal) strategy that you can only understand from the big picture. Of course per hand analysis can be fruitful. But yea I'm not turning a profit so don't listen to me.

Then I played some more

Then I started teaching

Then I played some more

And it's thru keeping this balance between playing and finding ways to improve my game that I eventually became a professional poker player and successful coach as well!

I think I learn the most from just watching all the Twitch streamers play poker... I follow every Twitch streamer that I come across, my list is easily over 100 names, so every night there's plenty of options. Quality varies, of course, but there are top name pros streaming their play and I honestly feel like I get just as much from listening to their thought process as I'd get if I paid for lessons. Poker is the greatest thinking game there is, and thinking is what I love to do... and Twitch is the greatest thing to happen to poker in a long time.

I read quite a bit on various aspects. Jonathan Little is amazing and, hopefully not inflating any ego, but Evan Jarvis is the @#$% as well. I watch what they have all the time. I also go back and watch old Poker brat matches or Doyle Brunson. They are my idols. I have never got to play either, but was in a tournament with Brunson years ago. I missed out on getting to play him. I think the 2 of them are the most consistent in play.

Started with books first, and watched a lot of poker on TV. I still read quite a bit and re-read the books I have read before so that If I missed some point or didn't quite understand something I can now see the points they are trying to get across.
I watch a few of the Streamers like Lex Veldhuis, Ben Spraggy, Mason Pye and many more and watching some of the bad beats they get has helped me understand that in order to be a good player you have to accept the bad beats as part of the game, That's all it is, you can get it all-in with the best hand pre-flop but it is up to the Poker Gods whether you win or lose.
If you win, Great! move on to the next hand.
If you lose, So what! move on to the next Game.
With good bank-roll management you will be able to survive the bad beats and win back the money on another game, Just avoid getting angry and going on Tilt! That only helps the opponents beat you.
I went on a losing streak recently and lost in every game I registered. It was soul destroying, not even a place in around 10 games I played.
I took a break, slept over night, and the next day could not lose if I wanted to, Game after Game I either won, came 2nd or even 3rd place but always in the money, and now I am back to where I was before the losing streak I had.
You just have to learn that in all things Patience, Practice and Persistence Pays Off!

I remember playing with friends first. Then when the TV boom started I was playing in casinos and 1 of the regs recommended harrington on holdem books which i digested fully.

Then I won an entry to the 2007 partypoker millions cruise, and bought 10 or 12 books but the 1 thats stands out for me was phil hellmuths play poker like a pro.

then i didnt study poker anymore after that cruise and eventually after continuously loosing I walked away.

Covid 19 brought me back in March and after a few tournaments i knew something wasnt the same. Players were playing hands in positions that the old game play was against. I decided to try and figure out why.

which lead me to youtube videos, and in particular GRIPSED.com
there you can find lots of great videos to learn from. Plus his final table reviews are like the greatest learning tools i have found.

Then i joined his discord community and the group support and feed back is so valuable.

But bottom line play and study are needed to be even breakeven successful at this game.

I played a lot, like if you want to be a football player, the best way to get good is to actually play and practice. Same with poker play and practice. I also remember days and night where I would set up a table and deal out 9 players and I was all 9 players going from chair to chair playing each hand just to see odds and pattern. hours and hours and hours spent for statistics. and I have a good memory so having a good sharp memory works also to remember mistakes so that they don't repeat.

I watch a lot of tournaments because I favor them over cash games, and you can see whole cards. If you like a way a players game is I would watch them and study their games. There are a lot of great books if you don’t mind reading.

I really like participating in forums and watching videos on YouTube, but I think that to begin to understand the game better you have to practice and not lose control.

Been playing since I won a bunch early high school. Usually won then hooking me for life. Sure reading a book or two on the subject would be helpful but havnt got there yet.
